Good Chinese (sorry for the generalization in advance) in Chinatown/DTLA

I'm looking for a good chinese restaurant, however I can't say I know much about specific regions and how they vary by cuisines, so Im really open to different ideas. Its for a birthday celebration, but its just for two people. Something intimate would be nice, but not a prereq. They do need to be open tonight however. I was looking at something like Peking Tavern, but the reviews are all over the place. Getting back to a more specific request, the interested party would like dishes that are probably quick fried proteins, if that helps with any possibilities. So if that means a more americanized version, so be it, but again, Im very open and grateful for any suggestions. Thank you.

Birthday Cocktails for a group of 8-10 on a Monday Night - Eastside/DT

I'm looking for some suggestions for a bar in Silverlake, Los Feliz or downtown for a birthday drink with a group of about 8-10. We don't need a room, but a bar with some space would be nice. Looking for a price point of around $10-$12/drink opposed to the $14. Up for something with some Kitch like Tiki Ti, but they aren't open on Mondays. I'm thinking this might be an earlier event from 7-9, but its possible it might take place on from say 10-12. Appreciate any suggestions. thanks.

New School of Cooking/Pro Series I

Has anyone taken the Pro Series I (20 week program) at the New School of Cooking? I was searching the boards and all the comments for the New School are quite old. I've taken the healthy cooking course at Chef's Eric's which was good but need something more substantial. I work during the day, so Le Cordon Bleu is out. Any feedback on either the Pro Series or any recent feedback on courses taken at the New School would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hillstones' Restaurants are solid, but looking for new suggestions on places to eat out solo

R+D, Houstons and Bandera I have felt are always good choices for single folks, whether partaking in convo with others or simply enjoying the atmosphere. Food is solid given the corporate qual control. Bars are also big so fairly easy to get a seat and bartenders are knowledgable. I tend to roam around the westside of town and favor more new american (hence my conondrum), but of course open to other areas/cuisine, alebeit not further than weho. Also enjoy Hals and James Beach (regularly) in Venice, so more of a chill vibe is always a plus. Just looking for some recs from folks that actually like dining out solo and intune to good food/atmosphere. thanks.

I'm looking for a few additions to my simple american fare cadre of restaurants that I frequent on a regular basis. I'm looking for suggestions along the lines of westville, blt burger and blue ribbon bakery. Looking around gramercy/flatiron/west village, etc. Thanks.

Providence - Breakfast/Coffee

This is my second visit to Providence in the past month and I'm slowly exploring the food scene. I'm currently staying downtown across from the Capitol and wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions for breakfast. I'd also like to explore any artisanal coffee outlets, if they exist. Please let me know any suggestions. Thanks.

Wine Bar/Tapas - Lower Manhattan (Recommendations)

Looking to built a repetoire of good wine bars between Chelsea and union square or flatiron and as south as soho. I was recently at boqueria and enjoyed it however the tapas werent very appetizing, I hear the food off the full menu is better. Slightly annoyed that theyve shut down the entire bar/restaurant for a private function tonight. If you have any other good suggestions, please let me know. Thanks.
