Anyone been to Earth in Kport yet?
Was wondering if Ken Oringer is actually cooking & if it's worth the price? Checked out the menu online and it's a financial committment.
Miyake's-What's With $25 pp Minimum?
LOVE Miyake. Worth every penny. We ate there last week and had the 7 course tasting and ate food rarely found in Maine. So creative, fresh, and served by professionals.
Driving from NYC to Kennebunkport, ME in May
I concur with the Old Vines recommendation. Great for wine & snacks. Cheese selection is best around. WBI in my opinion stands alone, they set the standard for dining in Maine. Everything is always perfect, Yes, very formal, but never is anything overlooked. One recommendation I would make for Kbunk is a new restaurant, 50 Local. Very fresh, modern, and simply delicious food. They source locally and the chef knows what he is doing. Their cocktails are always creative & seasonal too. They are new over the last year, but really know how to do it.
Best "Farm to Table" Dining Spot in Kennebunkport
50 Local is on Main St in Kennebunk, they serve an American menu that highlights the local farmers-they even dedicate their chalkboard to the farmers they source from (pretty cool). We ate at the bar last week on a whim and were floored at how good the food & drink were. It is city dining in small town kbunk. the cocktail menu is all about the classics and they infuse all their own liquors, use only fresh squeezed juice, and muddled one of the best margaritas we have ever tasted. It was a pineapple basil and so good we had two. we had apps only, tasting the crispy spring rolls, calamari, ricotta, and moules frites. all were delicious, bartender said they make everything in house. we asked about the chef and it sounds like he was bigtime in boston and moved up to maine for his wife. we loved it.
Best bartender ever
I concur, Casey is the best. I never understood why he has never been part of the "best of" awards. Management over there should start promoting him better.
Upscale Christmas in Maine?
Hands down, White Barn Inn in Kennebunkport. You will not be disappointed.
ISO decent Mexican on the North Shore
Thank you for the Cielito recommendation. We went that night and it really took care of our craving for delicious guac and margaritas. It was a great night and a wonderful little "cheap & cheerful" restaurant find.
Went for lunch later on in the week and did not find it to be as good. Guac was not freshly made and our burrito seemed to be premade.
Grocery Store Sugar Cookie Recipe, Anyone?
Thank you so much! I will try this recipe this week and let you know.
Grocery Store Sugar Cookie Recipe, Anyone?
It's a guilty pleasure I must admit, but I love those cakey frosted sugar cookies sold at grocery stores in their bakery department. Does anyone have a recipe they would be willing to share? I am dying to make some with the family Christmas eve.
