chili dog and root beer float, $5.50 at lot1 cafe?

Yeah, and on weekends for brunch they're doing all you can eat pancakes for like 6 bucks, I'm not kidding.
I haven't tried either, but I'm more likely to eat there now as the former $18 cheese plates were an absurd idea for this neighborhood.

What else at Phillipes is good besides the sandwiches?

The pie! The pie! I don't know of better coffee shop priced pie in L.A. Really nice homemade crust, the usual canned fruit fillings (and some serious chocolate cream that is way better than House of Pies) but always fresh and flaky. I go here just for the pie sometimes.

I have heard that their clam chowder is really good, too. Everything here is made from scratch, so I think it beats any other quick sandwich joint for that alone. Where else are you going to get fresh roasted carved meat on a bun at this price?

Thanks for the corned beef hash recommendation, I can never find that freshly made.

Cleaning Copper Pots

A restaurant I used to work in had me clean their copper pots with ketchup. I'd just pour it on there and wipe it off (and then clean with soap and water of course).

ISO: DELICIOUS BROWN RICE AND BEAN BURRITO

Benny's was good, that's for sure, I ate there a lot. I think they're considered Mission Style burritos. I've seen that style of burrito more in San Francisco and north of here rather than in L.A. It might be a regional thing. I'd love to find some around here, too.

Seattle Best Breakfast

You're going to think I'm making this up, but I worked here, too!
I didn't even live there a year and I washed dishes in every restaurant in town.

Me too, I used to work there! I still make the hashbrowns at home.
