My last try at a Wolfgang

I've been to Chinios in Santa Monica a few times and the most memorable part was the Chinese Chicken Salad, but really, my Chinese aunt can whip one in seconds and for free.

Afterwards, I decided I wanted to try Spago. You always hear about Spago, like it's the legend of LA. My boyfriend and I went there and I could not be more disappointed. The appetizer was beautifully plated, but totally lacked any flavor (It was some asapargus salad), and then our entrees were the complete opposite. It looked like someone threw a slab of meat on our plate and garnished it with bad stir fry veggies. And it was sooooo heavy in fat and rich in flavor that I could have felt healthier walking out of Jack in the Box.

I still haven't written off Wolfgang restaurants...I play it like baseball! So I've been curious to try Cut...any feedback? Is there a Wolfgang restaurant (aside from Chinios and Spago) that you would reccomend over Cut?

Tasting Menu Los Angeles

The beauty of LA is that everywhere is casual...although like Nicole, I've never seen anyone wear running shoes. The best tasting menu I've ever had was at Water Grill (Downtown LA) and it's even better with wine pairing (worth every cent).

Santa Monica dinners

Joe's on Abbott & Kinney is one of my favorites.

If you want casual and something different, Musha on Wilshire and 4th (or 5th?) has yummy Japanese Tapas at a reasonable price.

The Lobster on Ocean Avenue has a beautiful touristy view and it's one of the few restaurants with a few that actually has good food.

The Library Alehouse on Main Street is good for something totally casual. I wouldn't go there if you're looking for something strictly memorable, but it has a great beer selection and has good bar food.

AK Restaurant just opened up at the end of Abbott & Kinney and I loved it. There's patio seating as well.

Chinois is okay. I feel like there are better options for better price.

I ditto that. It wouldn't be a meal I'd go for if I only was staying in SM for a few days. Great brunch though...who wouldn't want free unlimited warm garlic knots?

Best Sushi In LA?? Where??

Hide on Sawtelle and Olympic has the best SUSHI. Simple sashimi, sushi, and a few basic rolls. The yellowtail literally melts in your mouth. The albacore and scallop special roll tie as my second. The quality is top knotch. It's very inexpensive; however, it's also cash only and they don't take reservations.

If you're looking for crazy and exotic rolls, Kaya Sushi in Marina del Rey (and I think they opened one up in El Segundo)...their menu is overwhelming because there are so many types of rolls. On the pricier side, but I feel you're getting your money's worth...the rolls are large, the presentation is beautiful, and most importantly the fish is fresh.
