Fresno Chowhounds?
What has happened to to the Fresno Chowhounds? I haven't seen any recommendations for or against a Fresno restaurant for months now! i had a great Chicken Ticka Masala last night at The North India Bar and Grill . Chef Liu has been ringing my bell at Hunan Restaurant ! El Toro Cafe is down on my list with greasy Taco shells. Alla's Armenian Restaurant has been getting their cudos! I care what you think about your eating out experiences! I definitely want to hear them! I really hope you folks get back on point here! Fresno has sooo many good places to try! They surely don't have to be high caliber places,...just good ,tasty food!! Happy Mother's Day!

Aaron , my son , and I had the lamb shish at Alla's and were very pleasantly surprized with the tender , rare lamb served with hummus and chips , a beautiful vinagrette salad with bulgar rice and a wonderful rice pilaff!! It rocked! yum !

It is with great pleasure I'm informing you that Alla, Johnny's past cook has reopened the restaurant and deli as " Alla's"! Everything is the same with the addition of shish kebob. I've been sick without my torsihe and bought a jar today. I may go in for dinner tonight! YES!!

Polar Bear, I am interested in knowing whether or not the white sauce was offered with the fish tacos? The sauce had been eliminated as of our last visit to El Toro. Hopefully it's back! Happy Halloween!

My son and I had the pleasure of our special #3 on Sunday evening at El Toro Cafe . El Toro is back and they didn't miss a step in their reopening. The food is not only as good but I have to say better. The salsa had a little more Zip and we loved it! Yum!
Olive Picking in Fresno?
Took a bucket out to Dakpta and Chestnut but found the olives to be small and not what I was looking for. They are plentiful there if you can use the smaller olive.
The Olive trees encompass the "Leaky Acres" area.

After my last experience of way over cooked mushy rabbit you won't see me there. If I'm paying top prices I want top food and they are not providing that for me. Totally unimpressed!

I've been frequenting a Hmong Fruit stand on Shaw Ave. just west of the H&E Nursery in Clovis and let me tell you their strawberries are freaking luscious!! They are dark red all the way through with a perfect sweetness and acidity. If there are any leftovers I might make a short cake but doubtful. These berries deserve to be eaten individually A'Natural, they are that good! ...and they have fresh string beans,carrots,squash,bokchoy, flowers,cilantro, dill weed. and no telling what will be coming ripe from their garden each week . I'm hooked!

Falafel Heaven and more at Occasion Bakery [Fresno]
Ok , i finally stopped by the Occasion Bakery! It was tuesday and nothing special on the daily Special List so I tried a meat and cheese Calzone boureg . It was very good but i saw the Friday special was falafel!! Well stupid me forgot about it on Friday and am now waiting for next Friday! what else should i try?

Parma in Fresno
I'm happy to hear you had a nice lunch at Parma.My last two dinning experiences there have been one plus and one minus. The minus was a recent dinner of their rabbit which was extremely overcooked. I realize the rabbit is not the most popular item on the menu but what I was served had no doubt spent a couple of days in a warming drawer. The meal i had on a previous occasion was similiar to your lunch selection and quite good.

Salinas City Barbeque Opens in Salinas
Melanie, I got a kick out of the name of their vinegar sauce,"Hogwash" lol. I'm surprised I've never heard that used before but you being a Bar-B-Que judge no doubt have. Now you've got me thinking I'll have to make a run to Ruben's Bar-B-Que here in Fresno for din din tonight. I haven't been there for several months so I'm hoping things are still good. Any reports?

Restaurant Week - Fresno
Save your money. I found the last Restaurant Week very limited and unappealing!. I think we tried two or three restaurants that were participating and found all to be sub par in relation to their normal offerings..The good places don't seem to be suffering much at all in this so called economic recession we appear to be deailing with. Surprizing to see Erna's and Lime Lite on the list although what they are offering is no big deal in my opinion.
