Searching for Kobe beef to cook
Unless you really want to pay the price for real Kobe, the next best thing is from these guys:
www.heartbrandbeef.com
And they aren't too far from Austin! Seriously, this stuff is amazingly good. They also serve it occasionally at Perry's Steakhouse downtown.
Gene & Georgetti's v. Chi Chop House for Business Dinner
David Burke's and Cut - highly recommended.
The Spiciest Mexican Dish in Austin
Second vote for the Habanero salsa at the Habarneo Cafe. It ripped my face off and I loved it!
Where is the best Spicy Fried Chicken in Austin on par with Prince's in Nashville
Make sure to try the pulled pork stuffed peppers. Amazing!
Where is the best Spicy Fried Chicken in Austin on par with Prince's in Nashville
I've never been a fan of Harold's chicken shack. I have no recommendation for fried chicken in Chicago unfortunately. Max's rocked. Super moist and tender, great chicken flavor and perfect crusty coating.
Where is the best Spicy Fried Chicken in Austin on par with Prince's in Nashville
I've been traveling to Austin on business once a month for over 10 years. I've done Nashville at least 7 times a year for the last 7. I love spicy food and I LOVE Prince's hot chicken! 400 Degrees is also awesome. For those who haven't had it, it isn't just chicken dipped in hot sauce and fried. It goes way beyond that. I've found nothing in Austin like it, but if someone finds something close, I'll certainly be next in line. Had Max's last week and it was good....but not hot.
Business Dinner Budget Dropped - Help Needed
I might go over, but I'm thinking of the Slurping Turtle. Anyone been yet? I loved Takashi when I took my wife.
Business Dinner Budget Dropped - Help Needed
Nope. $30 per person plus drinks and tip.
Business Dinner Budget Dropped - Help Needed
So I've got a business dinner for 4 people this Thursday and had booked David Burke's. My budget just got chopped so high end beef is out of the question. Can someone recommend something awesome that I can do in the $30/person range that would be within a $10 cab ride of the Swisshotel? Any cuisine will work, just looking for something really good.
Thanks in advance hounds.
Naf Naf Grill in Naperville
Just went there for my second visit and loved it even more than the first. Think middle eastern cuisine meets Chipotle. Bright and clean restaurant with great service. The chicken shawarma is outstanding, as are the kabobs. I've had the beef tenderloin, chicken breast and the beef kifta. All fantastic. And the pitas are the best ever! I strongly recommend everyone try this place.
New Buffalo, Michigan Restaurant
What are you looking for? For a nice dinner after the beach, we like to go to Skips.

Best Steak House
Thanks for the tip. I didn't think of that. I thought for sure that I had seen a post there in the last year.
Best Steak House
Man, I wish I knew how to use the search function better....
There is a thread that asked this question that has over 100 responses. But I can't find it.
Chicago Cut is the newest one to get great reviews. I'm a big fan of David Burke's as well.
If you want a location that you won't find in another city, try Chicago Chop House.

Heritage Turkeys for Thanksgiving
Anyone have a good source for these? I've been doing Ho-Ka turkeys from City Meat Market in Naperville, but looking for something different. I was thinking about going with one of these:
http://www.texasgrassfedbeef.com/pastured_heritage_turkeys.htm
They are pretty expensive, but hard to find pastured turkey anywhere. This is what I'll get unless anyone has another recommendation. Their grass fed beef is really good.
City Island Naperville
Anyone know anything about this place? It is opening where Boston Blackies was on Rt. 59. They are on Facebook, but no website up with info yet. All I've found from Google is this:
"The Glamorous International Burger Joint.
Reviving the senses with fresh, all-natural ingredients and elegant artistry that has, at its core, America's favorite meat.
City Island's "Green Room" is a journey into a healthier, more vibrant lifestyle by way of incomparable wellness products, organic wine and food pairings, wholeness workshops, wellness classes and fitness seminars.”
Sounds interesting.

Which steakhouse should we go to instead of Gibson's?
Another vote for David Burke's.
Need Thai restaurant recommendation for western suburbs
My wife took the kids and her mom for a birthday dinner at Lemon Grass and RAVED about how good it was. Love that place.
My favorite things from Whole Foods (downtown)
I love the sprouted corn tortillas they have here.
Best Chinese in Downtown - Lao Beijing?
So sorry for the late report. Double Li was good. But then we went to Lao Beijing. I've eaten there twice now and both meals were outstanding! The crispy shrimp is the best shrimp entree I've ever had, ever. It is a must order. But really, everything we had was great. Pork with garlic sauce, tea smoked duck, Mapo tofu, and the hot pots were fantastic.

Benny's Chop House - Anyone Been?
I've heard some good things, especially about their natural beef steaks. Anyone been?
My favorite things from Whole Foods (downtown)
I freaking love this store! I travel to Austin almost once a month (for the past 10 years) and I stay at the Hilton downtown. I work out next door at Pure and always stop at WF to grab dinner to take back to my hotel when I don't feel like going out. Nobody believes me when I say that the BBQ there is really good. I brought about $100 of it back to the valet/bellmen at the Hilton to sample and they loved it. The babyback ribs and pulled pork are great and when you pull into the underground parking garage, if you smell the smoker going, you need to buy some. Being from Chicago, I have pretty high standards for pizza and that's one thing I don't go for in Austin, but I love a slice of plain cheese on the way out the door. I just discovered their taco bar which is outstanding. The tacos are huge and well worth the money. If I had a hotel room with a kitchen, I'd take advantage of all the awesome grass fed/finished beef. I love that I can grab a cold bottle of Yerba Matte for a quick pick me up. Every time I come home and go to my local WF, I tell them that I just got back from the MotherShip and they are jealous. Love that store....
Best Thin Crust Pizza for lunch in Bridgeport?
I've had Freddie's, but it is closed due to a fire. I'll check out Punky's. Thanks!
Best Thin Crust Pizza for lunch in Bridgeport?
Any ideas? I've gotten some great recommendations, but all are for places that are not open for lunch.
Thanks in advance.
Where do you buy your steaks (uncooked)?
Your questions about Costco beef..... No, no, no and yes. For me, the best best for flavor is Whole Foods dry aged beef. We only do that once a month or so. To stay healthy, we go mostly with grass fed from Whole Foods.
Best LUNCH on Sunday in Naperville
Is there anything specific you are looking for? For Non-Chain pizza/Italian, check out Traverso's. We love their pizza and they have been around about 40 years. You also have Katy's Dumplings, a great Chinese place on Ogden Road.
