Vegas Dining Recommendation
Hello,
I will be in Vegas next weekend and I was looking for a good recommendation for lunch. I will be dining by myself and am looking for an upscale lunch with a nice atmosphere and somewhere I won't feel weird dining solo. (Probably will opt for the bar area.) I was thinking Mesa Grill. (Although I just dined at Mesa Grill in Nassau so if there is another nice option I wouldn't mind trying something different.)
Also would love feedback on these restaurants.
My husband and I will be dining at Joel Robuchon Mansion. (I am really looking forward to this! I was deciding between Alex and Joel Robuchon, but decided I just had to try his restaurant. I just wish they offered wine pairings.) The following evening we have VIP tickets to Le Reve and will follow the show with dinner at Daniel Boulud's Brasserie. (I have been seeing mixed reviews on this restaurant but was really looking forward to it. If anyone has a better recommendation for the second evening, I would love to hear it. For the night of Le Reve we prefer to dine at the Wynn/Encore since it will be easy and we are staying at Encore.
Thanks for any information.
Valentine's day at Rasika or Bombay Club?
We are making reservations for Valentine's Day and trying to decide between Bombay Club and Rasika. I originally had reservations at Restaurant Eve but we had a very late reservation for the 7 course tasting menu(even booking a month in advance.) We also have had a lot of really great dinners in the past 2 months (BLT, Minibar, 2941, Atlantico for NYE) and so we wanted to do something a little different. So we thought a fancy Indian restaurant might be a nice choice. I have always heard good things about both of the restaurants above and am trying to decide which one to go with for Valentine's day. I always thought Bombay Club was the best but it seems Rasika is really nice too. They are owned by the same person too right?
Any suggestions on which one may be a better choice? Better food, environment (is one more romantic vs the other) etc...
Thanks for any comments!
NYE Dinner DC
Thanks for the suggestion DMcCabe. Cafe Atlantico seems like it will offer what we are looking for, we ended up booking it for NYE.
NYE Dinner DC
Thanks for the comment- I think maybe I might not have been clear- I'm not looking for the best meal of my life that night. I know service is almost always bad on NYE.
We just want a really good dinner- meaning we want to go somewhere reputable for fantastic food and not just somewhere normal. I realize it may not be the best service that particular night but my goal is to have a great dinner with friends and have a lively environment. I think right now it is between Marcel's and Equinox...
Anyone been to 2941 in Falls Church recently?
We have been there several time in the past few years. I think since the change in chef it isn't quite the same, although still good. We just went a few weeks ago and did the tasting menu with wine pairings- it was very good but just not amazing. And back a few years ago I thought it was really amazing.
most avant garde in Washington area?
I would say Minibar. We called a month in advance to get our reservation- so make sure you plan early if you are looking for a specific date. We really enjoyed the experience there...
Bazin's on Church Street, Vienna, VA
We have been to Bazin's a couple of times and thought it was okay. Personally didn't think the food was as great as other places we have been in the area and it was really loud even on a weeknight. The service was really good though...
NYE Dinner DC
I know what you mean, but was hoping there was something out there that could fit the bill. I know a few years ago we tried to get reservations to CityZen and they were booked so we went to Cafe Mozu for NYE and there was a Jazz party going on in the main area of the hotel that was open to people who dined at the restaurants. Last year we went to Indebleu for NYE (great dinner but terrible service on that night) and they had music playing and after dinner an area downstairs with music and dancing (it was kind of a young crowd- but nice since we didn't have to leave the restaurant and could just walk in to a connecting place for some music.)
I was hoping there are some other places that might have that same thing. I will check on Posh- I haven't been there since before when it was Ortanique as well. If anyone has other suggestions I would love to hear.
Thanks!
NYE Dinner DC
Hi everyone.
I'm new to Chowhound but have checked out some of the topics in the past. I have lived in the DC area for several years and have dined at most of the great restaurants mentioned in the area. We are planning on staying here for NYE this year and wanted to dine at a fantastic restaurant with a nice lively environment for the evening. Possibly somewhere that has music, dancing, champagne toast etc. We don't want to do one of the hotel parties but something in between on level of entertainment.
The places we are currently thinking of are:
Marcel's
Equinox
CityZen
L'Auberge Chez Francois
Komi
I have been to all of these restaurants (with the exception of Komi.) I am wondering if anyone has been to one of these for NYE and can tell me what I could expect. I would love to go to Komi but I get the feeling that it is a quiet place which might be better for another night.) There will be four of us and we are all in our late 30s-40s and love great food but don't want it to be too low key since it is New Year's. If not these choices- any other suggestions?
