Need a VEGAN kosher bakery in Philly please

My pleasure! Was there a few months ago and their food was really, really good. If we didn't have a new place on the UWS (By The Way), I'd totally order from them and have it shipped here. Enjoy.

UWS Moderately priced but quality meat restaurants

Was they're recently, ambience is okay, chef came out to check on us, which was nice. Food was fair, would probably go back to give it another shot, though it leaned toward the expensive side.

UWS Moderately priced but quality meat restaurants

Agreed, it's far from inexpensive and the food quality has declined so much in the past few years. Wouldn't recommend at all, ditto Talias. Kasbah is decent but quite overpriced now. Estihana is a pretty good recommendation.

Best Burger or Shwarma in NYC?

Two Words: Golan Heights.

Best Falafel

Ridiculous! Agreed to Soom Soom is quite good but you've all missed out on some of the best falafel, shawarma, etc outside of Israel - Golan Heights in Washington Heights near YU. Their laffa is always fresh and it's a truly relevant, Israeli experience. If you haven't been there yet, you're missing out big time!!!

Cafe K - Unacceptable Experience

Extremely disappointing experience at Cafe K on 48th Street in Manhattan this afternoon.

One of the large chalkboard menus lists about ten fish dishes and at the base says "served with two side dishes of your choice."

My friend asks for the "fish burger" and is told that it only comes with one side and that the statement "is a mistake."

Funny. It is explicitly written on the menu that it comes with two sides; they should have honored it.

Moving on...

He's a good sport and decides to order it anyway - hungry guy that he is - and is told, "sorry, it isn't $12.95 it's $14.95". Yet the menu clearly states that it is $12.95.

Beyond telling us these "facts" - you know, the ones unbeknownst to the customer - in a rude way, Cafe K should consider learning best business practices as opposed to subscribing to the worst.

Well done Cafe K.

[PS: we caught the manager on the way out who was busy speaking into his bluetooth earpiece in Hebrew. We asked him about the sides and the price, he looked at us, told us what we had just heard from the other employee, and proceeded to walk away from us and continue chatting on the phone]

OZ has a great Kosher list for Manhattan and it's updated very frequently.

You do not; you'll find it on the right side of the lobby area when you walk in. UWS/UES should be open shortly, if not already.

Noi Due recommendations

You can get any of the pasta dishes without cheese. Last time I was there I got spaghetti marinera, it was very good. Their Tonno Salad and other solids are pretty good too. If you go earlier on they also have panini. Unlike some other menus, you won't be want for choice.

The place is 100% gelato or ice cream, if you want to simplify it; the 42nd St location *just* opened on Friday, so they're still in "sample spoon mode" - no prices - but I tried a few of the flavors and I was immediately won over.

Went to the one on 42nd Street today, it was FANTASTIC - I'm sure this place is going to be a hit. The ambience is chic, the presentation of the fare is great, the taste is unbelievable and they even have a few non-dairy/parve/lactose-friendly selections.

I was extremely impressed!

What's Open Saturday night on the UWS

Beyond NoiDue (long lines), Talia's and Mike's - I think Viva and Roma are both open.

Kosher near Mt. Sinai Hospital- NYC

V is great (there have been a few threads on it in the past). There are a handful of things in the Caf on a daily basis, prices are fair, but nothing to write home about. You can also check out the 92nd Street Y - haven't yet been, but have heard good things - not bad if you want to take a short walk. Other places will happily deliver to Sinai too.

V Cafe-- hidden gem, best letter restaurant of them all

Agree, I think the place is fantastic; I went there several times a week for many months when I worked in the area. The owner/manager is a great guy and the paninis are unreal. Prices are pretty fair too.

Alibaba on the upper West Side

Unfortunately, the portions have decreased along with the quality of the food and the prices are astronomical given what you get. Not that it's particularly convenient from a geographic standpoint, but Golan Heights has some of the best falafel, shawarma (etc) outside of E"Y and the prices are definitely fair given the massive portions and the quality of the food.

NYC - Pizza Cave Closed?

My brother just called me tonight, said he's tried calling them several times and when he walked by they were closed as well. I happen to know the owner but he and I are only in touch when he's actually @ the restaurant. Would love to know what's going on.
