South Bay Favorites (VERY LONG)
Tomi's sushi is really good for lunch especially if you like tempura.
Alberta's in Wilmington/Lomita. It's on PCH next to the 110 freeway. (Best Mexican food)
Anything in Mitshwa.
Shal Tandori - really good indian food, (go for the lunch buffet $7.99 can't beat that) It's on PCH near Torrance airport.
Original Pancake house -just went there today. Awesome.
Inaba in the rolling hills plaza has really good japanese food but they only open for dinner.
Hank's in Hawthorne - has good persian food but it is also an Italian restaurant.
Calender Grill
Went to the Calender Grill, nothing special. The food was good but was overpriced. I guess this is the upscale version of Marie Calenders. I ordered the mac and cheese because it was $10.99, so I thought if they charged that price, I have to try it, it must be good right? Wrong. My next day in the fridge mac and cheese is better. Makes me want to sell my own mac and cheese for $5.00.
lobster festival@ redondo - any thoughts?
I just went and it was pretty good. The lobster was kind of smaller than I thought. Here is some pics of the lobster festival. www.lawandorderculinaryintent.blogspot.com
Lobster Festival
Just came back from the Redondo Beach Lobster Festival. It was pretty good. Got a whole 1.25 lb lobster steamed with butter. Anyone else went, if so how was it to you?
If you want to see pictures of the food click on this.

Yakitori
Izakaya Yuzen Kan
2755A Pacific Coast Hwy
Torrance, CA 90505
(310) 530-7888
Went to Kan this Friday and it was a really nice japanese restaurant. Well hidden in the plaza. But the yakitori was delicious and they cook it right in front of you. Dinner and a show. They also serve only sashimi and it was pretty good, but the yakitori was really good.
Where is the best sourdough bread?
http://www.boudinbakery.com/
Boudin Bakery is in South coast plaza but they have really good bread and the menu of sandwiches, salads and soups are great too. Check it out I bought a big loaf of sourdough and it is awesome.
Also, Lawry's have good bread served hot with butter too.
Fish Restaurant in Redondo, Hermosa or Manhattan
I agree Captain Kidd's is really good. Try the spider crab or get some shrimp and have them cook it for an extra $3.99 with 2 sides.
Bread Bar in Beverly Hills
Went to Bread Bar, really great food. I had the baja and the forester. The potatoes and Bread were really delicious. I recommend going for breakfast.
Also they have good desserts. I got the rhubarb tart. Awesome.
What happened to Sushi CoCoNo in Torrance?
Anyone know what happened to the sushi chef Nano, who ran the sushi bar in Torrance called Cocono which was located at the crossroads in Torrance?
I heard he sold his restaurant. If anyone knows if Nano opened another sushi restaurant please let me know.
New En Sushi on Hillhurst
En sushi sucks, and they can't even make good shrimp tempura.
Good persian lunch place
Hank's Bistro is a combination Italian and Persian food. I went there for lunch and they have great specials. I got the Kubedei. Good prices and friendly nice atmoshphere not like other persian restaurants where you have to speak farsi to get service.

The Lobster
I'm going to the Lobster in Santa Monica, any suggestions on what to order?
The one time I went there I ordered the chef special and for 2 people our bill game out to be $100. It was great lobster but I never ordered off the regular menu so I'm looking for some recommendations.
Thai / South Bay
You should go to Chaba and Thai Thani in Redondo beach. Chaba is a bit more expensive but I would get the Pineapple fried rice at Thai Thani.
buying sashimi in the south bay
I went to both Mitsuwa and they always have good quality sashimi, especially yellow tail.
wedding cake under $1,000???
Try jade's bakery in Gardena/Torrance (310) 719-8889, their cakes are really good and the price will be way under $1000. Just have to ask to see Jennifer
best sushi/sashimi place(s) in LA area
Senari has good scallops but the service and overall experience was bad for me. I went alone for lunch and they told me to move to the corner of the sushi bar which started things off bad. Then the sushi chef didn't know how to speak english well enough at all. (at least get the basics) And in front of me, switched yellow tail and I got the worst piece of yellow tail ever.
