Thai before knicks game!

Looking for a good Thai restaurant near Madison Square Garden (MSG).. In particular looking for somewhere decent/casual- not too pricey.. . where perhaps a group of 4-5 friends can eat GOOD Thai before the Knicks game Wednesday the 21st.. so any help ASAP would be really really helpful!

I'm hearing mix reviews from Cafe Mogador in East Village, to Nomad Restaurant..

In particular I am looking for somewhere near the Lower East side.
Not looking for anything fancy for overly-priced. Plus, we'll be eating dinner somewhere before we go that doesn't service dessert. Perhaps a nice Gelato place? or even a place that serves cake by the slice- would be ideal for a birthday night
