Sonoma wine dinners Oct 19-20
Will be in Sonoma (Glen Ellen) for a quick tasting trip Oct 19 and 20. Looking for winemakers dinners and/or good places to eat. Any ideas?...
where do the locals eat in Lahaina/Kaanapali?
Looking forward to being in Maui next week. I know there are many great places to eat, but I am always most interested in going where the locals hang out.
Hanger Steak
I do all "good" steaks exactly as you just described. Whenever I try to get fancy and deviate, I am always dissapointed. I say don't mess with perfection when you are working with a great ingredient. Save the marinade for a sirloin.
Great steak in McAllen
Try them again. They are typically very consistant. Also try the Patio On Guerra. Great place in the revitalize downtown and priced right.
Where else should I go?
Try Eddie V's Edgewater Grill. Downtown location has great jazz band in bar. If you want an amazing experience and don't mind forking out a little more, Hudson's on The Bend out on the lake is an incredible experience. If you really want great bbq and have time for a drive through the hills to Driftwood, pick up a six-pack of Shiner Bock and try the Salt Lick. Mandola Winery in driftwood is also outstanding.
New Orleans Cooking School
Is the New Orleans Cooking School legit or just a tourist trap? Any other ideas for something similar?

Eddie V's is a self proclaimed seafood place, but serves Allen Bros. steaks. Truly the best in town.
