Works every time: Into a small plastic bag measure coarse white sugar or sparkling white sugar (kingarthurflour.com or intotheoven.com) and add a pinch of your choice of powdered food color (intotheoven.com) and shake. Works better than gel because it has no moisture. Remember to use less color - you can always add more, if needed. Enjoy!
