Buying abalone direct from divers Had no idea such a thing was illegal. Too bad. I know where to buy live farmed abalone south of Pescadero, and that's fine with me ... just had this romantic notion I could get it fresh out of the ocean. :) |

Buying abalone direct from divers Thank you. |

Buying abalone direct from divers Huh, I had no idea! I had visions of renting a cabin on the Sonoma or Mendo coast and buying fresh abalone, and cooking it back at the cabin. I guess that's not possible? |

Buying abalone direct from divers Are there places within 1 or 2 hours' drive from San Francisco where I can buy abalone direct from divers? |

How much do you spend on groceries each month? I am a single person in the SF Bay Area on the paleo diet, and I spend around $275 a month. |

What's your favorite mushroom? I'm partial to chanterelles and matsutakes. |

How can I reduce the dry mouth feeling that eating Swiss chard gives me? OK, thanks - do you recommend water with lemon juice or vinegar? |

How can I reduce the dry mouth feeling that eating Swiss chard gives me? Yes, this is after sauteeing - I tried olive oil, butter, bacon fat ... dry mouth. I tried simmering in broth - dry mouth. I really love the flavor of chard and it's so healthy, but I can't stand the dry mouth feel. I haven't tried lemon yet. |

Is there an online source for buying soup and marrow bones? I specifically need home delivery, yes. |

How can I reduce the dry mouth feeling that eating Swiss chard gives me? Dark leafy greens like Swiss chard and spinach contain oxalic acid, which gives you that "dry mouth" feel when you eat them. Is there some cooking method or preparation I can do to reduce this dry mouth feel? I really enjoy eating leafy vegetables, but I don't like the resulting mouthfeel. |

Is there an online source for buying soup and marrow bones? OK, I found one source that's from grass fed cows: |

Is there an online source for buying soup and marrow bones? I've been looking for an online source for buying bones for soup & roasting for marrow, and having them delivered to me. Does anyone have any recommendations? |

Curried Jackfruit Recipe from Bharat Bazaar/Samosa House (moved from L.A. board) I have no idea. I would love to know. |

Perhaps I went to the wrong places, but I was underwhelmed by the cicchetti at two different places I went to (names escape me.) I found it all bland and over-fried. |

Bouillabaisse recommendations in Marseille Thanks for the recommendation. I went to Fonfon and enjoyed it immensely. I also walked to Michel, but they were booked and couldn't take me. Next time. |

Comparing French milk & cream to US milk & cream Very helpful, thank you! I did some searching and found a previous board where I think it was you that suggested crème légère ib place of half & half? |

I'll be in Venice for 5 days. What are the must-try places I should visit there? Thanks! |

Comparing French milk & cream to US milk & cream I've just moved to France, and am trying to figure out the variations of French milk and cream and how they compare to US milk and cream. I've googled and have yet to find a chart that lists what's what and how it compares to the US version. Right now, I'd really like to figure out what half & half is in France. Is there such a thing here? Thanks! |

Best knife to use on ice cream cake? To quote Patton Oswalt "you couldn't cut a Carvel ice cream cake with a goddamn lightsaber". We're having a Carvel ice cream cake tomorrow. Would my Wusthof bread knife do the trick, or would the ice cream cake ruin the knife? |

Where can I buy fresh anchovies? thanks! |

Where can I buy fresh anchovies? I keep forgetting they sell fresh fish - I go there to eat all the time! |

Where can I buy fresh anchovies? I'd like to try my hand at making boquerones, except I'm not sure where to find fresh anchovies. My local seafood store (Sun Fat) sometimes has fresh sardines but I haven't seen anchovies. Which seafood stores in SF sell anchovies? |

Thank you everyone! |

I thought I'd jump on this before sour cherries come in season. During the very short window that they are available, where can I find fresh sour cherries in the Bay Area? Thanks! |

Two questions about Strauss cream-top milk As sfbing said, you can mix the cream back in but I prefer to put it on a scone or biscuit along with some jam, it's like English clotted cream. Delicious. Hmm, I've never noticed it going sour quickly, but maybe we go through our half gallon bottle faster than most? |

Milk CSA or buyers club in SF? Yes, the gallon Straus containers at Rainbow come in a plastic bottle, not glass. They're on the shelf below the half gallon glass bottles. |

Milk CSA or buyers club in SF? This is the # I have for Mr. Moo: http://www.yelp.com/biz/sonoma-marin-... I've called several times and he never answers. I left a voice mail and he never called back, so I can't figure out how to get on his service. If anyone has advice, please let me know, as I'd really love to get Straus milk delivered. |
