Best french fries in central MA/Worcester?
Fries were excellent, cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The espresso brownie sundae sounds good but we went down the street to Sweet for dessert. Can't beat their french doughnuts...
Best french fries in central MA/Worcester?
Thanks, I appreciate the help. I'm trying Via on Fri night.
Best french fries in central MA/Worcester?
Not sure if this is the best board but central MA doesn't seem to really have a home here. Anyway, I'm looking for the best french fries in the Worcester area. Fries you crave at weird hours, and will plan your next day schedule around to get. Any suggestions?
What's new and good in Worcester?
A 3rd for Baba - some of the best sushi I've ever had. Drinks are a little pricey but the sushi makes up for it. Make sure to get a couple hand rolls, chef's choice. You won't be disappointed.
good local eats: Hartford, Worcester, Pittsfield
For Worcester, if you like sushi, go to Baba Sushi on Park Ave. Some of the best I've ever had. It's a little on the pricey side but well worth it.
Good Mexican in Leominster, MA
Yeah, you're correct, it's on 117, on the left side heading west and before the Rte 12/117 intersection. I asked the owner's daughter a couple months ago and she said they used to be involved with the Rte 12 place but not anymore.
Good Mexican in Leominster, MA
Hidden jewel in Leominster: El Taco Loco. Everything I've tried has been good but the stand-outs are the chorizo tacos, the fresh guacamole, and the homemade churros. Family run place and feels it. Not a "date" place but one of the best cheap eats around.
Chang An- Concord, MA
Nothing special, it used to be a lot better. The owner is a jerk, too.
Retail oysters for home shucking - ideally in Concord/Acton area, but up to 1 hr away ok
Twin Seafood in Concord is worth checking out. I haven't been there in a few years but their prices were always pretty reasonable, especially for Concord.

Best French Toast in my life at Beehives!
You're correct, my bad. I just watched it on youtube and he does the custard the night before, not the bread.
Best French Toast in my life at Beehives!
No, I meant soak it overnight. Looking at the recipe on the site, you're correct, it doesn't say to do that. However, if you watch the episode, that's what he does. If you google it, there are lots of recipes for "overnight french toast". This one in particular looks very good:

Best French Toast in my life at Beehives!
Good Eats on the Food Network had a good episode on toast and he went into great detail how to do french toast. One of the keys was to soak the bread overnight in the custard mixture.

Casual supper Fitchburg to Sturbridge?
I've never been but Slattery's in Fitchburg is a local favorite. They have a huge menu, reasonably priced. Depending on how you're going to Sturbridge, Barbers Crossing is another decent cheap eats. They have 2 locations - one in Sterling and one in Auburn, which may be more on the way. If you like Thai, there's a decent option in Lunenburg on 2A: Bangkok Hill - very good pad thai and drunken noodle while the satay and thai rolls are OK.
Help! Bored with routine in Manchester, NH
Have you tried Bedford Village Inn in Bedford? They have a very nice looking dining room but we ate in the Tavern, which is more laid back. The food was good - I had the Tap Room sliders and they were cooked perfectly. The herb-parmesan french fries were also very tasty. For an app, we tried the antipasto and I was impressed, especially with the dried salame, which is no small feat b/c I'm Italian and I'm very critical. The only thing I didn't like was a mushroom soup special. It had a weird dried porcini flavor, it was way too thick, and the brown color was completely unappetizing. It had some fried leeks on top which only made it taste weirder. Anyway, the Tavern prices are reasonable and I'd definitely go back.
