Union Club (Beacon Hill)?
I've attended many functions at the Union Club and work for a business that frequently holds programs there. In the 10 years I've known them, the food and service are simply outstanding. Service is professional, friendly, courteous, with prompt attention to details and smooth handling of special requests. The food is seasonal, well prepared, and consistently delicious. Visually pleasing, too, beautifully plated with attractive garnishes. Many of the staff have been there through the years, which seems to signal that management knows what it's doing. And the facilities are of course lovely.

I'd welcome suggestions from chowhounds for lunch. I'm meeting a friend, new to Boston, who wants to go somewhere iconic and memorable for lunch tomorrow, Saturday. If Locke-Ober were still open for lunch, I'd head straight there, but alas, they do dinner only these days.
