What dessert is not overly complicated to make and will wow my guests.
No time to bake- amazing bakery cake or dessert needed - Main Line or nearby
I am going to a small, intimate Christmas dinner party Saturday and need to bring a dessert. Do not want to do cupcakes, bars or cookies, but something fabulous that can be cut up and served. Any favorite desserts you would bring to a party. I know they have some beautiful desserts at Bakery House, Aux Petite in Wayne, etc.... but what is your favorite? Also, I will be near a Wegmans beforehand if you have a favorite from there too.
Favorite dessert to bring to a holiday party from Wegman's?
Still deciding on baking or not. Do you love any of Wegman's desserts? I always am a fan of the Ultimate White Cake.
Cake Recommendations
The Italian Rum cake at Isgro's is to die for- but you must special order and ask for a layer of ricotta cannoli filling in it. SO good. Also, on a grocery store level, the Ultimate White Cake at Wegman's is really yummy.
In Search of Awesome Philly Wedding Caterer
We got married at the Cescaphe Ballroom in Northern Liberties. It is a great space and the food was fabulous. Instead of doing the ceremony and then reception we did the following. 1.5 hours of cocktails and heavy hors devours followed by everyone being seated in ballroom. Once everyone was seated, we got married right off of the dance floor on the steps. After reception, the dinner and dancing began. I have also been to some nice weddings in the burbs and more mansion like settins such as Merion Tribute and Appleford where you bring caterer in. Feastivities does a great catering job. Chafing dish help
So, I am having a party this weekend and using wire chafing stands with sterno to keep food hot. I am ordering all hot trays and making a few myself and using the large size pans. Do I need to buy a second large pan to put water in and then put my pan in it? Wont the water be pushed away? I heard I am supposed to use half trays, but the food I am getting catered comes in the large ones. Tips for keeping hot?
Tips on using disposable chafing dish
If I am ordering large trays of food, do I just put this in a large empty tray with a little water or do I need to break my food into 2 smaller pans?

I have been out of the loop for the past year or so (new baby, etc...) and really want to wow my husband with a birthday dinner in the city or surrounding areas. We always loved celebrating at Lacroix, Vetri, Le Bec and Buddakan (yes, gasp.... we love a Stephen Starr restaurant) in the past. On a more casual note, we often used to dine at Parc, Osteria, Distrito and other places. Looking to take him to somewhere on the newer side that has great service and even better food. He loves French and many other cuisines, but his first choice is definitely not too ethnic (Indian, Middle Eastern, Spanish). He was a chef for over 10 years and likes to be wowed at a restaurant. So, let me know some of your favorite newer options. Tasting menu's are definitely something we enjoy, but not a necessity.

Upper Darby area restaurants?
There is not a lot of great options in this area. In Upper Darby, there is a pretty divy family style Italian restaurant with pretty good food (nothing gourmet- more of your Chicken Parmesan and Meatball kind of dishes) called Bona Cucina. The Clam Tavern in Clifron Heights is also really close and another dive (think wood paneling and no remodeling since the 1970's- ha ha) but they do an amazing Crab Imperial and Baked Clams. We really like Samurai on Township Line in Drexel Hill- good sushi and other dishes. They also have a Hibachi side of the restaurant. If you are willing to jump on 476 and drive 15 minutes, we really like Flemings and Susanna Foo in Radnor. Also, in University City, a 15 minutes drive from Upper Darby is Distrito. We love it there and it is convenient that you do not have to go all the way into center city.
Where to find escargot?
Any grocery stores or gourmet shops that sell escargot? Preferable in 'burbs...

Nice steakhouse in Bucks County area?
We need to get a gift for a couple who lives in Richboro. They are definitely not the adventerous eating type, more of the meat and potato type, but I would love for them to experience a nice steakhouse or something with higher quality food than they are used to.
