Phoenixville
and unfortunately I read (on Twitter via @PhxvilleDish ) that 101 Bridge has closed, and Bookend Cafe will be closing.
Good news is that Pepperoncini from Conshy is opening their 2nd loction in PXV and a juice bar called Strawberry Fields is opening in town too.
Loving Handcrafted Cookie, wondering if the other bread store in town is ever going to open?
Ephrata: worth going out of your way for
I have to agree with this surprising find of a restaurant! We were less than thrilled to see it was in a somewhat nondescript building but all concerns flew out the window when we entered the well "deco'd" space, ordered a cocktail and gazed at the menu. Our service, food and drinks were top notch, and I was intrigued to see that there's a movie theatre in the first floor of this building. A gem!

Han Dynasty -- What to order; what to avoid...?
We go to the Royersford location often and really dig the chicken with hot dry peppers and dumplings with hot chili oil. From the Exton restaurant I'm partial to the noodles with meat sauce. Wish both locations had the same stuff on the menus!
Aero Bars or other English Candies in Philly
I know it's a bit out of the area you are looking in, but Wegman's has a very good selection of English candy bars and foods- just had an Aero yesterday, love them!
Phoenixville
While you may be confusing the name of the place with a certain throat lozenge, The Fisherman Restaurant in Phoenixville is as old school as it gets, and I love it. Totally dig their croquettes and authentic old school vibe, and hope they never change it. I always preferred their diner type food to the Vale Rio, but be prepped, it's pretty plain American food, nothing fancy.
Here's a link to a piece I wrote about it for my website Retro Roadmap - I think the fact that I entitled it "My Fave Restaurant In Town" tells you something!

Phoenixville
Just to quickly update this thread, Cheese closed in Phoenixville a while ago, and La Creperie has also just closed. Lots of neat places in town still though!

Fairground food - the Big E
I'm bumping this thread up since it's that time of year- the Big EAT! Reading about what people got last year makes me want to make the 6 hour drive from my home in PA just for things like maple sugar cotton candy and fried cheese curds. Unfortunately that seems like a long way to drive, plus pay admission fee, just for food. But I'm sorely tempted!
The fried cheese curds have been my fave food at the Big E ever since I can remember. I was thinking about it just the other day, and I'd be really surprised if the folks that own the Big Cheese truck only work the BIg E and that's it? I'd think they'd do a circuit of some sort, hitting fairs and things, but have not been able to find anything online about it.
If anyone goes to the Big Cheese fried cheese curd stand this year, can you ask them if they only do the Big E? Again I'm tempted to make the drive, but if I could get the curds some other time that would alleviate this cheese monkey on my back!
Please do report back as to what you got this year!
Looking For A Great Cocktail Bar... Are There Any?
Southwark is my first thought. Heard good things about Franklin Mortgage but haven't been yet. You could always head to the Oyster House on Sansom where Katie Loeb mixes up the best in original and classic cocktails. I like the vibe/mood/aura of Sassafras, and I bet the Sidecar has a good...sidecar!
What restaurants should I not miss in Philadelphia & King of Prussia?
Totally second the Han Dynasty recommendation- my fave "Chicken and Dumplings" Chicken with hot dry peppers and dumplings in chili oil, mmmmm!
Need PA-centric foods for my new book
Saw this link to the food timeline (fascinating site!) and thought of this thread:

Fun day trips in the area July 4 weekend?
Phoenixville is a cool place for dining and exploring- and there's an Idiotarod Shopping Cart Race 4th of July weekend! http://bit.ly/8iEqB
Dixie Picnic in Frazer!
Was all set to check out this place after work, I'm disappointed to see that they close at 4pm M-F, and 3 on Sat. Oh well, won't be there any time soon.
(not sansom street) oyster house - open yet?
If you mean "the Oyster House that is ON Sansom Street, but is no longer called The Sansom Street Oyster House" then yes, it is open. Nom away!
Lobster Watch
To clarify for a displaced New Englander- do grocery stores around here not have lobster tanks, where the lobsters swim live? Now that you mention it I don't remember seeing them. How is the lobster packaged down here?
Anyone tried Daddy Mimms' Creole in Phoenixville?
We tried the pizza last week and would probably order it again. Had the garlic/pesto pizza and it was quite tasty, tho a bit heavy on the pesto, and a refreshing change from the numerous and unremarkable pizzas in Pville. Looks like there's a lunch special for smaller pizzas at 1/2 the price of the usual ones, a good way to try some different types. I did have issues with the ambiance- lighting too bright, blaring radio- these definitely brought it down a notch or two for eating in, but we enjoyed our food (and our growler from next door at Iron Hill, as the place is a BYOB)
Anyone tried Daddy Mimms' Creole in Phoenixville?
My husband and I went on 3/21 for dinner and both enjoyed our meals. My Shrimp with Boursin Grits was particularly tasty, and enjoyable the next day as well. He enjoyed his fish. We'd go back!
Formosa? Mimosa relative?
Anyone know what a Formosa is?
Going through some photos I snapped earlier this month in Annapolis MD and came across a sign for a Sunday brunch noting $2 Mimosas and $2 Formosas. I had not heard of a Formosa before, and took the photo to remind me to look it up when we got home. After searching on the internet I haven't found anything, and now weeks later I don't know the name of the establishment to call and ask (we were just walking by). Ideas? Thanks!
BYOB in Collegville area
Slightly out of the way, but still fairly nearby, we had a delicious meal at Funky Lil' Kitchen in Pottstown a few weeks ago. Can't wait to go back!
Wagon Wheel-Gill, MA
my husband and I visited the Wagon Wheel while driving the Mowhawk Trail a couple of weeks ago and were very happy with our visit! I can't remember where I heard of it originally- I thought it was Hidden Boston- but wanted to thank whomever recommended it. I had the Cowboy Burger- burger with cheese, bbq sauce and onion rings and I was so into it I can't remember what my husband had. Fries were good hand cut type.
One thing that I loved about the place was the decor- the paint by numbers gallery, vacation plates and tea-towel curtains were totally up my alley. I love it when folks pay attention to small details like that, as so few places do. I always have said I'd like to own a restaurant or bar just so I could decorate it! Only word of warning I have is that there seemed to be a big temperature difference between the original room and the dining room, which was quite freezing, especially coming out of the 97+ degree heat. We were quite comfortable in the main part. They had emu burgers, and locally made tonic (soda) and both familiar and interesting things on the menu. This place is a keeper in my book!
Phoenixville
There are a couple of places opening up near Iron Hill, Marly's, That Italian Place and Baxters.
Here is a link to info about them from aroundphoenixville.com

Hope that helps!
Phoenixville
thought I'd give a quick mention to being addicted to the prime rib sub/zep? at Waskos on Gay street. They make it with BBQ sauce, provolone and onions - a combo that I never would ask for on my own, but it is totally delish!
Also saw that there is supposed to be a new breakfast/lunch place opening in the old Moose building at 119 Main, which was for a short time the Destiny brewing Co. The South Main Cafe.
New Wegman's in KOP
There's one supposedly opening off 202 and 29 near Malvern, and also one further up 422 and 29 in Collegeville. Not sure when for either, but will help us now that gas is so expensive, not to have to drive to Downingtown!
Eggs And Sausage...
oooh I'd recommend the burger too, a real red meat treat! We spent the weekend in Pburgh a few summers ago and that burger still stands out in my memory as being mm mmm tasty. Also Tessaro's is a cool old school place, which is always a star in my book!
Cupcake Gourmet in Malvern
I went a few weeks ago and am still drooling at the thought of their cappucino/mocha cupcakes. mmmmm....might have to go there on the way home from work!!
Favorite "Boston" candy?
YES! I saw that KK had closed, and was secretly delighted. Though I did think, "if they knew they were going to close, why did they open up in the first place" ;-)
Twin Bays Cafe in Phoenixville
Black Lab is less expensive than Majolica. Majolica is more "foodie" than BL, imho. Depends on what you want. I've been to both and prefer the Black Lab, but there are many folks who rave about Majolica. It is not really in our price or comfort range.
Favorite "Boston" candy?
Penuche gets my vote as well! Used to love it at Russo's in Saugus, before the evil KK empire tore the place down. Will never eat another KK donut again. I've heard that Russo's has relocated somewhere else in Saugus but not on Rt 1. Looking forward to investigating it next time I am up at home.
Hilliard's Candy in Easton has molasses puff. yum!
Green St's website?
Thanks for the heads up on the lack of dumpiness - I haven't been to Green Street in ages (moved away) but good to be prepared for the change! I am never good at handling that. ;-)
Phoenixville
There was a good article about the state of dining in Phoenixville, concentrating on Bridge Street, in today's Inquirer, with a list of the restaurants at the end:
