Thank you. I'll call IKEA and see if they are doing it this year.
Gingerbread Houses
Thank you on the Gingerbread Festival. I'll check it out.
Unfortunately the Cookie Tour is having decorated Christmas Trees instead of Gingerbread Houses this year :(

I'm working on a feature on Gingerbread Houses for Northeast Flavor magazine. Please help me put together a list of New England hotels and restaurants that create and display these gems at Holiday time.

Food in Alicante
FYI--My daughter, who is living in Alicante for the year, tells me the family she lives with considers Piripi to be their favorite nice restaurant. She hasn't been there personally yet but is anxious to try it.

Thank you again.
I sent her an email suggesting she try the ensaimadas. Will let you know how she likes them.
And I will add the tram to Campello to our list of activities for our visit. I haven't been able to find a decent guide book, so your activities suggestions are as much appreciated as your food suggestions.
Any good wineries we can access with public transportation?
Food in Alicante
My daughter, who is in Alicante for the school year stumbled onto a bakery she thought was great.
I'll ask her to send the name and address, but here is her post:

Food in Alicante
Thank you, so much for all the help. I'm learning so much--which will just make my trip that much better. When we went to Madrid last Spring we ate excellent food but I hadn't studied enough before the trip to understand which sorts of foods were from which regions.
My daughter is living in Alicante now. She's just arrived, but her friends suggest La Tablera, Pirpi and Los Gordos--which seconds the advice I have already.

Thank you for this amazing information. I will frequent Pepa's blog--and hopefully improve my lousy Spanish. Let me know hoe El Titi is.

My husband and I will be in the city of Alicante in February. What should we eat and where? I'd love any and all suggestions--sweets, meals, local specialties, restaurants and take-away food. Anything memorable, all price ranges. In the city is preferred, though a day-trip is possible.
So far all I have is Pasteleria Torreblanca and Monastrell
Many thanks,
Can you eat at the bar at Stella?
Hi,
I'm heading to NO on Friday and will be there for a month. My restaurant list is way long, but a person can only afford (and digest) so many big dinners. Is it possible to eat at the bar at Stella so we can have a taste without tying up a table?
Any other suggestions for great bar dinners--and the dishes to order?
Thank you!!!
Sweet Tooth Tour
What is the best way to get out there? Canal St. Streetcar? Where do we get off?
Sweet Tooth Tour
Looks like I'll need to tast alot of ice cream flavors at many places.

I hadn't even thought about falming bananas foster. Great idea? Where do you suggest?
Sweet Tooth Tour
Thank you for all of the great suggestions. I've added them all to my list. Will try to get to as many as possible!

I'm a dessert-first kind of gal. Please help me not to miss any must-eats durin my upcoming mid-Feb trip to NO.
So far, I have:
Emeril's Banana Creme Pie
Antoine's Baked Alaska
Creole Creamery (what are the best flavors?)
Hansen's or Plum Street for a snowball
Haydel's for King Cake
Cafe du Monde for beignets
What else?
Where can I get a great praline?
Where is my best bet for bread pudding that is really moist?
Any great bakeries?
Thank you!
Please help plan our month in heaven
Hi NO Foodies,
Our 16-year old daughter is doing a semester away, so we're treating ourselves to a full month in NO. We'll be staying at the southern end of the FC one week, the top of the FC one week, and in the warehouse district another week--and will have small kitchens. We won't have a car, but love a hike--especially into the Garden District. We love all food--any nationality.
We already have a long list of best nice restaurants in town. Please help me by filling in with:
1. Places we can buy things we can snack on or take home to eat: baked goods, candy, ice cream, snacks, meats, sausages, cheeses, breads, fresh produce, prepared foods, ingredients to cook. Please tell me both the name of the establishment and what you recommend we eat/buy there.
2. We are planning a brief trip up along the river road, then across to Avery Island. Any suggestions on what to stop for and where to eat along the way are appreciated.
3. Any casual, inexpensive places along Magazine St. or elsewhere that we can hike to for lunch.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Playa Del Carmen Christmas
My family of three will be spending Christmas Eve and day in Playa Del Carmen. Any suggestions for somewhat authentic things to do or places for Christmas dinner? Christmas Eve activities? Any idea what restaurants might be open?
Thank you,
Lisa
Paris--best pastries to try
That's sad. I love almond croissants. Where is what you would consider your next favorite?
Paris Wine Bar Etiquette
Is it good? We go for Dim Sum in San Francisco every couple of years and I love it. Not what I'd planned on for France, but definitely a treat for someone from Maine. We've been here ten years and haven't found good Chinese yet.
