Food at New Meadowlands Stadium

I have been wondering the same thing. I am taking the train so I have no ability to drive anywhere for food and my friends and I want to eat before the concert. I cannot find information about dining anywhere. The New Meadowlands Stadium website is terrible. I am hoping you get some responses!

Irish food stores on Long Island

Keyfood in Floral Park has sausages and pudding but they are frozen. They also have the Irish sweets including lots of cadbury chocolate. Curious what the other responses will be and whether there are any sources of fresh rather than frozen irish meats.

Anyone make great garlic knots within 15 or so minutes of Port Washington?

Pie on North Fork

No luck with the pies. I was planning to stop at Briermere or Wickam at your recommendations on the way home but we made a last minute decision to go through Shelter Island and head home via the south fork. There was a recommendation below for a south fork below but it was East of where we ended up. I stopped at a farmstand in the Bridgehampton / Watermill area. I didn't catch the name, it was just a few minutes west of the shopping center with the Williams Sonoma. Anyway, I was told that their pies were homemade, not commercial so I took home a pumpkin pie. It was terrible - sickly sweet, not a great texture and nothing special crust. I think I have been spoiled by Young's farm in Brookville. No other pumpkin pie will live up.

Ciminos and BBQ Bill's - Greenport

Any feedback on either of these places? I can't find a menu for either of them, have found no reviews on CIminos and mixed reviews on BBQ Bill's. Your thoughts?

Anything new open in the last 2-3 months?

Pie on North Fork

What is the best place to get pie on the North Fork of LI? I make a great apple myself so I am really looking for pumpkin (I just had the best pumpkin ever from Young's in Brookville - looking to replicate it) or pecan (something buttery and not too sweet). I know there are lots of places to buy pies but where do you recommend as the best for pumpkin and pecan pies?

Christiano's, Syosset

Hopefully someone will try it one of these days and post some feedback. In the interim when you say better red sauce place - any of them have a cute atmosphere and good food? I find it is always one or the other, haven't found a romantic little red sauce Italian place, reasonably priced with yummy homemade fresh tasting food. If only I could get the yummy homemade fresh tasting red sauce Italian food in a little place with red checkered tablecloths, little candles in wine bottles and Frank's music playing softly in the background.

Are you sure that is the restaurant you meant? When I checked the link it seems to be American/Steakhouse.

Jersey City dinner help: Grove St. Path stop

Not a good fit for tonight since I don't think they do much if anything with drinks and you probably want something fancier but go to Taqueira one of these days. It is on the corner of grove and grand. It has very fresh very authentic mexican food. It is so tasty, wish they would open something like that where I live on Long Island. The prices are very reasonable too.

Christiano's, Syosset

Has anyone tried Christiano's in Syosset? I read in Newsday that legend has it that it inspired Billy Joel's "Scene's from an Italian Restaurant". For years I have been looking for a good romantic red sauce Italian restaurant.... something with checkered tablecloths, Frank's music in the background and lots of yummy fresh tasting garlicy food. Anyone have any feedback on this place?

Casual Al Fresco Dinner for 5 couples - Nassau

I haven't dined at Prime View on my own accord but did attend a party there and thought it was unremarkable but sometimes party food is that way. It does seem to be doing a better business than the other 7 or so tenants before it. Not quite red sauce Italian enough for what I have in mind for this dinner though.

I haven't tried Livorno, will have to look into. Sounds like that could be a good fit.

How is Poco Loco? I am sure it is no Besito but how would the food compare with Mi Ranchero or Amigos? Do they have fresh chips and salsa?

Anyone know a place that fits my criteria in Huntington? That might be nice..... North Shore is definitely preferred.

Casual Al Fresco Dinner for 5 couples - Nassau

I checked the menu at Pine Island Grill and it seems to be a little pricey and American rather than my Mexican or Italian criteria so that won't work though looks like a good place for brunch which I will keep it in mind for. I have been to weddings there years ago and it is a great location.

We did steamboat landing a few years ago for my birthday and the atmosphere is great but the food was so-so. I know they have since changed the chef and menu. I couldn't find a menu online. Have you been recently?

I am still holding out hope that there may be an Italian or Mexican place that meets my criteria. Sisina in Port Washington would be the ideal venue except the food is so bland. Mi Ranchito in Port Washington also is a good venue for the crowd but again, the food is just okay. Anyone know if Novita in Garden City is any good and would fit my criteria?

Casual Al Fresco Dinner for 5 couples - Nassau

I am looking for a place to go with a few couples in Nassau (anywhere but 5 towns area) or Northwest Suffolk (no further than Huntington) that would meet the following criteria. Any suggestions?

Not to expensive (ie $$ or $$$ out of $$$$$)
Outdoor seating
Takes reservations
Italian or Mexican - freshly prepared (prefer red sauce Italian to high end but prefer my Mexican to be a little upscale - ironic that good authentic mexican like Besito is considered high end)
Won't rush the group too much

Favorite Long Island Restaurants

Besito in Roslyn or Huntington is my favorite for high end Mexican.
Chipotle in Westbury or Hicksville is my favorite for low end Mexican.
Grimaldi's in Garden city is my favorite for pizza and salad.
Nanking in New Hyde Park for Chinese and Indian.

Chains aren't popular on this board but Houston's and Ruth's Chris in Garden City are my favorites for American food.

Sweet Mama's in Northport is my favorite for Breakfast though I have not been there since the change in ownership and heard maybe it is no longer as good.

I have never had a bad meal in any of the above. I love a place that is consistently good.

Mexican Find in Sleepy Hollow

We must have tried this place on a very off night. We went on a Saturday night late last year and the place was so disappointing that I was embarrassed at having suggested it. I had gone soley based on the reviews I saw here and my experience could not have been more different. There was not a fresh item served to us. The chips and salsa were no better than an average Zagat rated 16 restaurant. My tamales tasted like they had been made 6 months prior and frozen and reheated several times. Salsa tasted like it came out of a jar. Margaritas were average. Service was not attentive and atmosphere was awful. The place reminded me of a Mexican version of a greek diner that puts too much on a menu and doesn't do anything well. I thought perhaps they had new owners but other people seem to have posted favorable comments in the months following my experience. Did we hit it when management was on vacation?

City Cellar Westbury

I was very disappointed with City Cellar. I am not sure why the are doing such a great business. The bread was average grocery store Italian not even warmed up. The butter was stick butter served cold and hard. My salad had dressing that lacked any flavor. I assumed my pizza would be gourmet but when served it was a personal size version of what any old average local pizza joint would serve. My husband's steak was served rare when he asked for medium well and the dessert did not match the description on the menu. The only thing I enjoyed about my meal was the wine but that was sort of luck as my server did not seem prepared to recommend any wine in particular. Anyone else disappointed by this place?

Nanking New Hyde Park

I haven't seen many references to Nanking in New Hyde Park so I thought I would mention this place. It is wonderful. The website doesn't mention that they have Indian food so I was pleasantly suprised to find it on the menu when I got there.

I have eaten there twice now and thoroughly enjoyed the ginger chicken, potato naan, garlic naan, onion naan, an appetizer of cubed cheese with spices and samosas. The flavors in the foods, sauces and the condiments is great and the place has a nice atmosphere. Servers are attentive though not overly helpful or knowledgable.

Note, not all the locations have the Indian food. I was disappointed to learn Jersey City doesn't.

Jersey City Eats?

I work in Exchange Place too. I abolutely love Taqueria - 236 Grove Street. It has wonderful cheap Mexican food including items like tamales that are hard to find elsewhere. I can't wait until the weather gets warmer because though you can take the Path to Grove I only go when I can walk. If you are by yourself and walking fast it will take you about 10-12 minutes to get there. You can order ahead or order at the counter when you get there.

I also think that O'Connell's has a great atmosphere and is among the better Irish pub food I have had and unlike other Irish pubs they also pay attention to the wine list and have great martinis.

There is a soup cart often parked on the corner of Montgomery and Hudson. My office mates go nuts for it and there is always a long line. I have personally never tried it and suspect all that yumminess comes from lots of butter.

BEST PIZZA ON LONG ISLAND

Has anyone tried Da Angelo's regular pizza lately? I seconded Mike's recommendation a long time ago but realized when I ate it just recently that it hasn't been good in at least a year... It used to taste just like Cuigini's but now the regular pizza is nothing special. Its a shame since there it was the closest good regular pizza to Port Washington. Now I have to travel to Mineola or New Hyde Park for a regular pie.

BEST PIZZA ON LONG ISLAND

I have tried Sal's a few times and it is admittedly a better option than the other places in town but it is very expensive and if I wanted to treat myself to expensive brickoven I would much prefer Grimaldi's. They get it exactly right over there.

BEST PIZZA ON LONG ISLAND

I like Da Angelo's too, have you tried their grandPa pizza? It is very good. If you like that place you will love Cuigini (spelling) in Mineola. They used to have the same owners I think but I find Cuigini's regular pizza to be better than Da Angelo's (though Da Angelo's is especially good). I also like Umberto's of New Hyde Park, Little Vincents in Huntington, Emilio's in Commack, Saggio in East Norwich and Grimaldis in Garden City. Steer clear of Port Washington where I live. There is not one place that makes a good regular pie.

Dining within Boatride from Port Washington, LI

Thanks, Prime does sound good, I remember CoCos. Hoping for a couple of places closer too, we are new to boating and work lots of hours so hoping for a few places that we can hit after work without driving too far or using too much gas.

Not sure what boating and eating seafood have in common. Lots of people use boats for things other than fishing. I doubt if Donald Trump is catching fish in the mucky Hudson off his yacht and eating them for dinner. I do like fish, wish them well, like to see them just prefer not to eat them.

Dining within Boatride from Port Washington, LI

We are docking a boat for the season in PW. We are familiar with the restaurants (or lack of good ones) in PW but are wondering what might be available within a short boat boat ride of here. We are happy with anything but seafood. Would love a nice romantic Italian restaurant and some fun al fresco dining places. Your thoughts on places we can pull up and dock?

Near Royal Palm, South Beach

Actually, one more question... we were in Miami briefly last year and stopped for Mexican in a place that was excellent... no idea the name or location though. We weren't on the water nor where we in a part of town that was too far from the water, just not necessisarily within an easy walk. It was in an area with a few closed off blocks that had lots of outdoor restaurants to choose from. I think it may have had a yellow awning.... sound at all familar?

What would be our freshest options traveling between Islamorada and Key West... or even a little west of Islamorada could work....preferrably not places that specialize in seafood.... cuban, mexican, burgers, etc all could work well.....
