Lunch places near McClellan AFB/North Highlands, Sacramento
Thanks very much for the replies both of you. I am actually very open to types other than what I listed, I was just sort of brainstorming there. I hope I'll get to try a few you've mentioned.
Lunch places near McClellan AFB/North Highlands, Sacramento
I will be at some training near McClellan AFB in Sacramento and am looking for good nearby lunch places. Italian, mexican, american or just a plain old fashioned good deli that I won't have to travel to far to get to. Any recommendations? Thanks
What is Best Foodie Restaurant on Oregon Coast?
The Riverview in Gold Beach is closed. & in January any of these options might be closed for a bit.
For a foodie I'd take them to the Cape Cafe on the south end of town (east side of 101), Gold Beach. Good food, nice ambiance, and emphasis on local ingredients. They have a small but nice menu with choices ranging from steaks, fish, and a veggie option or two. Generally uncrowded.
Spinners would be a second choice for a foodie. More choices on the menu but similar range of choices although maybe not a veg option. Prices for both range in the 15-30 $ range.
I really wouldn't nominate a third choice for a foodie although The Bridge north of the Rogue might qualify.
Breakfast/lunches you might try Rolling in Dough on the north bank of the Rogue. Good food and relaxed dining.
Restaurant recs needed all along 101!!!
Some places in Gold Beach I've tried recently that were good:
Rollin' in the Dough north of the Rogue River and just upriver from the bridge... Service is not particularly speedy, but the food is very good. They serve lunches, breakfasts and Sunday brunches, Tuesday through Sunday. They go for local and organic ingredients.
The Cape Care on the south end of town next to the forest service offices. Serving breakfast and dinners Wed - Sun. Our dinner there was quite quiet -- we were the only ones there at first -- some view of the ocean across the highway and with hotels. We were so impressed we went back for breakfast and it was much busier. Organic, natural and local fare.
Spinners a couple of 'blocks' on from the Cape Cafe on the west side of the highway. Dinners nightly from 1630. Nice wide selection of seafood, steak, chicken and burgers. Somewhat spendy. This was not one of our first choices from the looks of it, but we ended up going back for a second dinner here because it was good.
Sandpoint ID for lunch
I'd not call it low rather offbeat ambiance at Di Luna's. I love Italian so keep trying Ivano's but it just misses a little for me. I did get a great lasagna there once but can't seem to get a second serving. They aren't open for lunch on weekends though are they? Lunch bar is closed I know.
Oops, relooking at OP, looks as though they may have already gone last weekend so this may all be moot anyway.
Sandpoint ID for lunch
I like Di Luna's on the main drag through town. They have a lot of local products, and good menu choices. I usually eat breakfast there though rather than lunch. Everything I've had there has been good.

Best eats outside the I-5 corridor
& here I was so excited. Someone knew SOMETHING about SOMEWHERE other than SEA, PDX, Eugene and nearby environs. NOT.
I go, let's see. I-90 through WA. 395 through Spokane, Tricities, Pendleton, Baker City etc. 84 up the gorge. 97/197. coastal route through Oregon. 31s Metalline Falls and Silver Lake. The various linkages to the coast.. McMinnville, Eugene, Aberdeen. 2. & at any given time I might make a detour from above listed routes.
Guess I won't even bothering that the 'Elsewhere in America' splits out all the Hawaii posts.Just too many who don't know where elsewhere is anymore.
Best eats outside the I-5 corridor
So I've enjoyed some of the recommendations given in the I-5 corridor. But lots of times, I'm outside of same. Where are the good eats there? I travel all through WA, and previously all through OR as well. Anything goes on this one.
Looking for good eats in Sandpoint, ID
Thanks gpitic. I'll take a look at that page I've heard of a few that have closed and the reviews were good. Too bad they closed.
Portable lunch suggestions?
Quesadillas -- add veggies of your choice to the cheese, salsa and tortillas in the pan. Cut up and bag, and you have a sandwich on the go. You can even add some shredded meat.
Salad. Buy one of the bags of salad. Put some in a portable bowl with o&v, s&p, herbs, cheese. Shake before eating.
Greek salad with tabouleh or falafel in pita bread. (bag separately or the pita bread will be soggy).
Leftovers:
Spaghetti and sauce
Lasagne
tacos
Baker City, Oregon
I may get a chance to visit Baker City sometime soon. They seem to have quite a few restaurants for such a small town. What are the best ones that I should be sure to try? Thanks
Have beef will travel: Best standing rib roast -- Olympia area
I'll be visiting family for the holidays and would like to spring for a great roast. What are some of the better sources for beef in this area? Would be willing to travel within commuting distance of Olympia if the source were right!
What Can I Do With This Pineapple?
You mean other than eat it fresh? Slice off the skin, cut out the core, dice it up and serve. Yum!
Looking for good eats in Sandpoint, ID
I'm looking for some good choices in Sandpoint eateries. I like Italian, Mexican, and good basic diner fare. Price is no object (ok, so if it's high end it may be only an occasional foray but knocked off the list). What's out there?
great steak in Missoula?
Sounds like the Old Post to me. Main entrance on a main street. But nice back alley presence too. Long narrow and brick walls. Bar on the right if you're coming in from the alley. Heads straight forward. I've had beer and a dinner there, never tried their steaks so can't say for certain but that's what comes to mind. http://www.oldpostpub.com/index.php
