Rivera: Review with pics

I really like the downtown restaurants but I've never tried Rivera. What's their speciality?

chocolate peanut butter cake

I'm taking this recipe and running with it. Hopefully it turns out good.

Essential ingredients in Southern Cooking

You have to get preserves...like strawberry preserves for breakfast food. But that might just be a home grown thing and not a store bought thing (not sure)...and Lawry's Season Salt is a must-have at all times!

Hot- vs cold-smoked salmon; how to use

I still can't get with salmon. What's the best way to have it prepared for a first timer?

Pomegranate Molasses - Really Delicious!

Pomegranate is really making a comeback...I just saw a truck drive past advertising pomegranate liqueur and tequila.

Girlfriend's Weekend in Schaumburg area

No...but I have a suggestion for a one of a kind shopping experience...Woodfield Mall!!!! It is the bomb...and be sure to stop at A&W's All-American Food for a root beer float.

chi 1 day cooking class - maybe pig roast??

I've never looked into this kind of activity...I didn't even know they had a 1 day cooking class. Do culinary schools offer this too? because I really like CHIC (Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chgo).

Italian Beef along the Red Line

Al's #1 Italian Beef is so good. There is one near UIC on Taylor Street and convenient to public transit.

What restaurant am I missing?

You're definitely missing the Signature Room. Its on the 95th floor of the John Hancock Building...and I LOVE IT!!!!

Chicago weekend!

You should go to Lawry's, Gibson's, or Morton's. I know the first two are in the general downtown area. Gibson's may be a little on the outskirts of downtown but within miles.

Sister dinner suggestions

I'm sorry but I'm still stuck at the lingo "Small Plate". What does that refer to exactly?

How do Honeybaked and Martha Stewart Kirkland Signature hams compare?

Honeybaked ham is just the absolute best to me! But I will give Miss Martha Stewart a try.

What's the spiciest (yet still edible) Dish you've had in LA?

People may beg to differ with me...but it was definitely the BBQ wings at Ketchup. It is spicy period but if you even think about putting the spicy ketchup sauce on them...you are sure to blow up in heat.

Buffet

Baked Chicken sounds really good.

3 Girls in Chicago!!

I say bite the bullet and try Gibson's, Morton's, or Lawry's. You definitely get what you pay for...and it is soooooooooooooo GOOD!!!!

Best Pancake Nominee?

Wow I've never heard of Julienne. Thanks for the address. I love Pasadena and cant wait to check it out.

Best Breakfast in LA?

Serving Spoon on Centinela in Inglewood...is sooooooooooooo AMAZING!!!! The employees are friendly and the place is really popular and usually packed. So Get there Early!

Easter dessert

Lemon is definitely a great ingredient. I just say the standard Lemon Meringue Pie. ummm Hmmm.

Looking for New Doughnuts

Yum Yum Doughnuts is so good!! Definitely definitely try it!

Thursdays at 160 Blue

You should...and then let me know if the food is worth the discount? Lol.

Disney on Ice @ United Center - where to eat with a 4 & 8-year old before show?

Giordano's is a good place and pizzeria 815 W Van Buren

River North for Valentine's Day

The Signature Room is so nice but may be way too pricey for you. Check it out. It's on the 95th floor of the John Hancock Building.

Chocolate babka -- can one get it in Chicago

Thanks guys for breaking it down to me...it sounds really good! BRB it would take some research to see if they carry it in chicago. With the city being so diverse, I'm sure you can find it somewhere...I've just seen/heard of it.

Valentines Day Bubbly????

I've driven past the Stone Lotus so many times, but never stepped in. What are they known for (food, ambience, etc.)?

Chocolate babka -- can one get it in Chicago

Babka I've never heard of it...what kind of dessert is it?

Any good breakfast places near St. Xavier University?

I'm not sure how healthy it is...but the food is so good. I would check out St. Rests Country Kitchen on 727 E. 87th St...or the Original House of Pancakes which does have healthy options to their menu...and they are really good. The address is 10437 South Western Ave. It may be closer to the campus too.

Best Restaurants on Restaurant.com

I just moved to SoCal from Chicago and have never been to Allgauer's. Seeing your reviews, I am going to have to try it out the next time I go home to visit.
