Green, Brown, Orange?

they make the vVERY BEST (really!) coffee. I remember talking to Alejandro the owner about it and he said, yep, they do it very particularly with particular equipment. The food, too, he is in on just whats best. I interviewed him for my book What Chefs Feed Their Kids and ate there a bunch. Lovely place to sit too.

momofuku noodle bar with a saavy kid-crazy?

Thanks! How long is the wait for food there? I think I read somewhere that ordering starters was a bad idea because it slows the whole dinner down a lot.

momofuku noodle bar with a saavy kid-crazy?

Hi, I'm visiting NY and really really want to go to Momofuku noodle bar. I'll be with my husband and our 5 1/2 year old son-he's a good eater and will try almost anything. I was thinking we'd go for an early dinner when they open. The wait will be less and maybe less crowded? Am I crazy? I was thinking it would be fun for all of us to be someplace loud and fun but again, am I crazy?

tuna melt on corn cakes

I was thinking corncakes like thin pancakes made with a mixture of cornmeal and flour, buttermilk, egg etc. I didn't want fluffy pancakes. I was hoping for thinner ones, with crispy edges. Maybe they'd get crispy from cooking with butter.

tuna melt on corn cakes

In pursuit of a recipe for a tuna melt corn cake.....anyone have ideas on how to make it? I'm thinking the corn cake should be thin and crispy (kernals in it or not?) and the tuna be a simple non-mayonaise mixture. I told a friend about it and her response was that any crispy corn cake wont stay crispy with tuna and cheese on it while under the broiler. Any ideas welcome.

looking for a quiet meeting place to record an interview [Santa Monica]

sorry, silly me. I need a place in santa monica.

looking for a quiet meeting place to record an interview [Santa Monica]

I am doing a interview that I need to record with a simple mic plugged into my computer for about an hour at 10am on friday. I think a regular coffee shop is a bit risky for sound but I thought maybe a quiet restaurant with booths or maybe a place with a room or quiet upstairs?

thanks in advance for all suggestions!

where to get blueberry farmer cheese?

yep, that's it. How great! thanks. I will definately try the pico-robertson area. It took me a while yesterday to figure out it's a jewish deli cheese, not a fancy cheese store cheese.

where to get blueberry farmer cheese?

that was my sad conclusion too. I did a bunch of research and found lots of farmer cheese recipes but not baked with blueberries. The were more along the lines of savory farmer cheeses or like indian paneer. I thought to try one recipe today and just mix blueberries in after it's done and stick it under the broiler for a bit. We'll see how it goes.

where to get blueberry farmer cheese?

thanks, I did call them and they offered it. It sounds yummy and I'll have to go by to taste it.

lunch in malibu?

hmm having trouble posting this

lunch in malibu?

my folks are coming to town and I want to bring them to malibu for the day. I am looking for a good lunch place, any price. They love the Ivy, cut, comme ca, barney greengrass and they like a fun crowded place. We'll be on the beach for part of the day so a beach view isn't going to drive the deal. They are not huge fish fans either. They really like good food but not too fussy or nouveau-especially when the waiters demands 15 minutes to explain specialty ingredients in dish and then bring something too artful to eat.

recommendations for lunch and dinner please near BH

My hip New Yorker folks are coming to visit and I need some help with restaurants. They really like a fun crowded place with great food thats not too high minded and serious. I need a great lunch place, indoor or out. Money is not really a concern but I would love it to be anywhere from BH to W Hollywood and definately not further west than century city. I also need a recommendation for another for more casual dinner on sat night (they are taking the sat night red eye home after dinner)

Places they love include lunch at the IVY, cut, comme ca, giorgios. They did not like at all ago, lucques, osteria mozza-all too serious and high minded both in service and food.

need a ham.....confusion abounds, please help

I wanted to have a ham for a party this weekend and looking into it has gotten me so confused. Hoping to find something great and festive for a platter of make your own sandwiches.

This is a first for me and I'm not sure whether to cook a ham or get the fully cooked smoked ham, cured or uncured, spiral cut which is prettier on the platter or boneless. I am overwhelmed by the amount of options. I wanted to get the best flavor, stay clear of nitrites and hormones and chemical flavor/color and try to be organic without getting reamed on the price.

Any suggestions other than the obvious whole foods? I also know about the boneless Neiman Ranch boneless ham from Costco.
