Best Braised Short Ribs Recipe?

I ended up going with the Balthazar recipe and my husband said it was the best homemade meal he's had in a long time if not ever! I braised it at 300 for 4 hours and put it in the fridge overnight. Skimmed the fat in the morning and then reduced the sauce that night. I put the meat back into the sauce for the last 10 or 15 minutes. It was perfect!
I served it with roasted asparagus and mashed potato/carrots (I love to mix the two, so delicious and I grew up eating it).

Thanks everyone for the advice :)

Going to be in Minneapolis for our 2nd Wedding Anniversary. Restaurant recs?

We absolutely love meat but we just didn't find anything super interesting or with flavors that popped.

We had the pork chop and I believe it was a steak that was served sliced. We tried one of the sausages for an appetizer, the cornbread and some rabbit rilette, I believe.

Quite frankly, the service was just so bad that even if the food had been amazing, we probably wouldn't go back. The food alone just didn't wow us at all...

Milwaukee - Anniversary Dinner Recommendations?

My Husband and I are most likely going to be in Milwaukee for our Anniversary. I was wondering if someone could recommend a restaurant to us?

We frequent Bacchus quite often and love it there. We recently tried Sanford and honestly weren't that impressed (maybe our expectations were too high).

Can someone recommend a great place for us? We love all kinds of food. The food is most important to us but we'd also like great atmosphere.

Thanks :)

Going to be in Minneapolis for our 2nd Wedding Anniversary. Restaurant recs?

Honestly, great food is more important to us but we want a nice atmosphere too.

We were beyond disappointed by Butcher and Boar last time we were in the twin cities. The service was horrible and the food was nothing to write home about. I think this whole charcuterie thing that's been popular is just not for us. I guess we just love amazing food, with great flavors in a comfortable environment. It doesn't have to be super fancy but we want to feel like the food is worth the money, not just the experience.

Going to be in Minneapolis for our 2nd Wedding Anniversary. Restaurant recs?

Hi all
We are going to be in Minneapolis for a couple of nights for our anniversary in March. I already made reservations at Bar La Grassa for one of the nights since we love 112 eatery and have never tried la Grassa.

I'd love to go out to a romantic restaurant with amazing food.
Any recommendations?

We love all kinds of food :)

Best Braised Short Ribs Recipe?

Hi All,

I'm trying to decide on a Braised Short Ribs recipe for some grass fed short ribs I just bought from a local farm.

I am really just unsure which one to use. I've looked at the Goin, Balthazar as well as this epicurious recipe - http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/foo...

I'm open to other recipes too but these seem to be some of the board's favorites... just not sure what to go with?

Anyone have any suggestions as to your favorite recipe? I just want tender, flavorful meat.

Thanks so much

If you were in LA for one day and had never been, what is the ONE restaurant you would go to?

I'd say Amazing food over atmosphere/view.

It's going to be our first time. We want to eat well, interesting flavors, nowhere where the portions are tiny for what you pay (i.e. Jose Bazaar.... we went in Miami and were not overly impressed).

Thanks so much :)

Lunch Restaurant Near O'Hare OR Headed north on 294/94?

Hi All,

I'm going to be picking my sister at O'hare airport around lunch time and we are going to be headed back north to Wisconsin. It's her first time in the area and I'd LOVE to take her to a nice lunch after she lands.

Is there anything convenient to O'hare or on the way back North that would be a great lunch spot?

We love ALL KINDS of food but my preference would be a French Bistro type of place or Tapas because we love it and it's a sort of tradition for us. :))

Thanks so much,
S

Chicago Restaurant near Doubletree Magnificent Mile?

Hi All,
Three of us are going to be in Chicago for two nights in September. I was hoping for some dinner recommendations within walking distance of our hotel. We're staying at the Doubletree Magnificent Mile which is a 5 min walk from the Navy Pier (just to give everyone an idea of its location). It's a couple of blocks from the Magnificent Mile.

We'd like to have a great dinner out. We are already going to Graham Elliott Bistro one night (my sister would like to go there).
Any ideas of where to go on the second night? We'd really love to be wowed (though we don't want to spend $100/person without wine...). Any ideas?

Thanks so much,
S

Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant recommendations?

We are going to be in downtown Minneapolis for two nights in a couple of weeks. We've been many times and would love to try some new restaurants this time around. We've been to Eatery 112 and have loved it (though it's been awhile since we were there).

Can someone recommend some great Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner options that are downtown? I'm not sure where we're staying but it'll probably be somewhere close to the Hilton/Hyatt/W Hotels.

We are willing to take a short cab for the right place. We love all kinds of food (Seriously... pretty much everything) but I think we'd probably prefer a restaurant that has great food but not a super fancy/stuffy atmosphere (kinda like Eatery 112, though doesn't have to be as small as this place).

Any suggestions? I'm looking for suggestions for all meals :)

Quick/Easy Lunch near the Colosseum - Rome ??

Hi All,
My husband and I would like to have a quick & easy lunch near either the Colosseum. We have a tight schedule that day and we're also having dinner at a very nice place that night so we'd like to keep it easy for lunch (and fairly quick).

Can someone recommend somewhere we could go?

It would have to be open on a **SUNDAY** and also open by 10:30 AM :)

Thanks so much!

Best Authentic, Amazing Tapas in Barcelona?

I'm looking for an awesome, authentic, tapas restaurant in Barcelona. I just want AMAZING food. We're not into the whole "molecular gastronomy" thing... Just a great environment, with great food.

Suggestions?

Help with favorite restaurants in Miami/South Beach...

My Husband and I are going to be in Miami shortly.
We are going to go out to 1 or 2 nicer dinners while we are there and also want some good places to go in between that aren't super expensive (Sandwiches, or good values).
We don't mind taking a cab but would prefer closer by if possible. We are staying in South Beach.

Any recommendations? We love Italian, Sushi, Seafood, Chinese, Tapas, Steak, American, French... EVERYTHING really.
We're thinking maybe a Seafood and one Tapas but we're open to everything and anything that's good.

If I could get a couple higher end choices.
Also, I'd love some great places to eat that aren't SUPER expensive.
We want to do one or two nicer dinners and then eat well but not super pricey after that.

Really appreciate it! :)

Breakfast near Westin? Or is it worthwhile to take Metro outside the area? Sorry to post again!

Hi All,

Looking for a good breakfast in Montreal near the Westin.

I usually like traditional breakfasts. My favorite is crepes, croissants, french toast, jams, eggs, bacon, sausage etc...

It's going to be a weekday, so they have to be open for breakfast during the week (not just brunch).

Any recommendations near the Westin?

I might be able to take the metro to it but would rather it be within 15 minutes walk or so.

Thanks so much :)
