Looking for great steaks!
In this order, my favorites are...
1) O'Brien's Grille - It's on the Westbank, but it's worth the trip. It's the best steak I've ever had and the best BBQ shrimp too.
2) Mr. John's
3) Ruth's Chris
4) La Boca
Old school New Orleans Sunday Brunch suggestions?
Atchafalaya is my favorite brunch place, hands down.
And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the build your own bloddy mary bar...complete with real bacon bits.

Cheap eats - two nights - 5 guys on a road trip
Luke for happy hour. It's everyday...even on the weekend, from 3-6 pm. 50 cent oysters and 1/2 price drinks. You could eat a dozen raw oysters and have a beer for $10.
Hong Kong market. It's not a "restaurant' but you can get some great cheap eats at their deli. We went last weekend and got a bahn mi and also a full styrofoam container of a chopped up pig leg for $5.50. I'm not kidding. My husband and I split it and it was enough food.
Pho Tau Bay - XLarge bowl of pho and a drink for under $10.

Fest Dining...I know, I know...don't shoot me
I'm almost positive that LBTT does not serve food on JF days. They are strictly a liquid diet kind of place on those days. All of the tables are cleared out and it's only several lines leading up to the bar. They open at 10 where you can start with bloody marys (which are fantastic). After the fest, everyone swarms there to drink some more and hear live music. It's like a huge block party. There's a live band outside and they are making serious money on liquor.
Midnight Eats?
Stop at City Diner in Metairie on the way in from the airport. It's 24 hours and it's good.

Late-night Saturday dinner near hotel?
This is the best advise you'll get! Please listen. There are so many people that end up just wandering into places and they end up sorely disappointed and then come away from out city wondering what all the fuss is about. Go to places recommended on this site, and you can't go wrong. Wander into touristy places in the quarter and you can go very wrong.
Partaille's at Bouche
Thanks so much for the info. I just saw an ad in Gambit for them and was wondering about it!
Chow in Metairie for Jazz Fest?
Absolutely hit Impastato's
Another suggestion is Ristorante Filippo
If you're looking for really late night, good cafe grub, City Diner is good.

Where to eat late on a Thursday night
You are so right! We're going to be there this Thursday and I still didn't think to suggest it
Where to eat late on a Thursday night
Adolfo's in the Marigny! A lot of people on here rave about Coop's. We tried it a few weeks ago and it was horrible.
fun restaurant to celebrate 23rd birthday with friends (during 1st jazzfest weekend...)
A party of 15 might be difficult for Boucherie to accommodate. It's pretty small.

Great review! Thanks for sharing. Sounds like the pizza place you went to was Slice...and we actually ate there last night! It's our favorite!

Food truck at Tipitinas?
It is still there sometimes....but did you know that the people who run the truck (Called the Que Crawl truck) now have a restaurant! It's very reasonable and it's very good! It's called Boucherie. If you want to eat there during JF, I'd make reservations now.

AWESOME
I think Sake Garden is better and definitely more consistent, and it's around the corner. I also think Megumi is much better.
crawfish
I've gotten them from Sal's Seafood 3 times in the past 2 weeks and they are INCREDIBLE! It's rare that I find a boiled seafood place that does everything right. They do. The crawfish are perfectly seasoned and cooked, as are the potatoes and corn.
