Looking for a good croissant in Pasadena / South Pasadena / Alhambra / Eagle Rock / downtown LA general areas
I'd really like to find a good croissant. I want a fresh one, that is crisp yet not dry on that thin outer layer and that is moist and buttery and flaky and light on the inside. I'm so tired of trying them at random places and getting chewy oily ones that have sort of fallen.
For reference - I just found a great one when on vacation in San Francisco at La Boulange on Hayes.

Best Breakfast in LA?
can you post a link to Almandine? Is it actually Amandine? http://losangeles.citysearch.com/profile/38547517

Nosh - I tried to look up Amandine so I could go get a croissant, but I find one in downtown LA and one in Hollywood and one out by the beach. Can you provide a link to the one with the good croissants?
Looking for a Good Croissant - Esp Chocolate
Thank you everyone! I ended up trying the croissants at Delessio on Market and they were quite yummy, but the proportion of chocolate to croissant was a bit too high for my personal taste.
I also ended up trying the regular and chocolate croissants from La Boulange on the corner of Hayes and Market per the recommendation of a very nice hostess at the restaurant under the Sir Francis Drake Hotel. I didn't even eat there, but she took the time to recommend another place to me. She said she was French, and that the croissants at La Boulange tasted like they did in France. I have no basis to tell whether or not that is true, but I can say that they were the best I've ever tried.
The outside was somehow crispy without being dry and the inside was buttery and light and I just couldn't get enough of them. The chocolate one had the same amazing texture and taste with excellent tasting chocolate dispersed evenly throughout rather than in one disconcerting clump in the middle. Ask for it to be slightly heated and all the flavors intensify. I wish I could take this place back to Los Angeles with me.

Looking for a Good Croissant - Esp Chocolate
Hi - I'm staying in Union Square and craving a good croissant, especially a chocolate one. I realize I'm not going to find one at 11:27 p.m. on a Saturday night, but I'm hoping by the time I wake up in the morning, I'll find a few suggestions. (I searched the boards, but didn't find any prior posts on this subject - hopefully I did the search right and I'm not posting unnecessarily .) I'm up for traveling a bit via Muni or Bart if necessary. Appreciate any help!

best thai on the west side?
I think judging a Thai place on its basic dishes makes sense because if a restaurant is truly good, it will have enough pride to make even the "throwaway" dishes good.
