Ga Lok Garden in Bloor West Village

I just received a flyer today from Ga Lok Garden, located at 351 Jane St (@ Annette). They have a long menu, including Cantonese, Szechwan, and Hakka Chinese food.

Has anyone tried it? Specifically, has anyone tried their chili chicken? There is a lack of good chili chicken places in the west end of Toronto, so I'm hoping this place will be decent.

Caterers for Steam Whistle...Experiences?

Wow. Much action on this post today! I got quotes from Rose Reisman, Beyond Catering and Eatertainment. Daniel et Daniel was too pricey for us. The Rose Reisman rep was actually pretty helpful, but we weren't terribly impressed with the menu. Beyond Catering offered a great menu. But we eventually decided on Eatertainment because Jennifer was very organized, helpful, and able to work within our budget and still offer a decent menu. We were also the most comfortable with her. We will stock our own bar, and I appreciate that canadianbeaver has shared some of the potential issues with us. We intend on keeping the bar simple anyway, so hopefully there won't be too many problems!

I'm hoping for the best! So far, both Steam Whistle and Eatertainment have done well for us.

Wedding catering at various venues in TO

We've booked Steam Whistle for a wedding in July 2010. We really love the venue and the fact that we can bring our own alcohol (big money saver). I contacted Rose Reisman, Eatertainment, and Beyond Catering for quotes. All three were able to provide a decent spread within our price range (about $100 per person, including food, service, and rentals). The key is to know what you would like to spend and then they work around that. As for food, you can ask for tastings to see if their menu is right for you.

In the end, we decided to go with Eatertainment because they had the most suitable menu and the coordinator, Jennifer Draper, seemed to know the venue the best and was very organized. There are some positive comments about Eatertainment events at Steam Whistle on this forum. Overall, we are happy with our decision.

Caterers for Steam Whistle...Experiences?

I just booked Steam Whistle for a wedding in July 2010. I'm looking into hiring of the caterers off the preferred list. I'm wondering if anyone out there has experiences (good and/or bad) with these caterers:

Rose Reisman Catering
Eatertainment
Beyond Catering
Daniel et Daniel

Thanks!
