Steak Frites, Toronto
I dont agree with this persons assessment. I was there last week and found the service excellent and very friendly. I did not try the soup as I went there solely for steak - I must admitIi was surprised at the breadth of their menu. My steak and frites was excellent, with perfect crisp vegetables as a side. The dessert - Ii had, the crepe, was excellent. I had no complaints and am planning to go back again. I too have eaten in france many times, and the service in france is not friendly, nor are its meals always fabulous. This restaurant, provides a small french experience, but with good service.
Rosewater Room
I was at a wedding there this weekend. Nice room, but the food was dreadful. We had beef and chicken. The chicken was something I have never seen before. It appeared to have been cooked and then coated in raw Shake and Bake crumbs. The beef was cold and raw. It was cooked on the outside but inside it was raw and very tough. I enjoy my meat rare, but this was unedible. The dessert, some type of crumble was also cold. Later in the evening they served poutine in little chinese take-out containers. This was cold and mushy.
It has been years since I have been to a wedding, but I really felt for the parents because there were several complaints about the food. One explanation, the speeches were long so the food may have sat for a long time.
The venue itself is pretty, but it is outdated.
Eggs bacon chips & beans
I have a group of about 50 Liverpool folks coming to town for a wedding and I want to make them feel at home. What is the best place in the GTA to get eggs bacon chips and beans? We won't all be dining together, but I want to give them a list of reputable places that they can try out.
If you had one evening only in Toronto, where would you eat?
I second the Chiado emotion. Truly fantastic food. Went there last night, fish sausage appetizer followed by the tuna. Food doesn't get any better in GTA than this. The service is outstanding, personable staff and good solid consistent food. Glad I don't have just one night in TO.

Good Canadian Style Chinese Food
Oriental on Yonge. It is located just south of the Loblaws on Yonge and Yonge. Great delivery. Best that I have had in the area. C'est Bon does not compare to this place.

Best Indian in Toronto - where is it?
Finally had delivery from Amaya last night. It was the best Indian delivery in the GTA by far. Monday and Tuesday they have a dinner for 2 special. 1 app, 2 meats, 1 rice, 1 veg and two nan. We ordered butter chicken and chicken masala. Fantastic and certainly enough for 3 or 4 people. Highly recommend this place

Queen Mum? Yes please!
I have been going there for years just for their sticky rice. I have never had a bad meal at the Queen Mum. Glad you enjoyed your meal there, now I am craving sticky rice....
ho lee chow sucks
I have never liked this place. All orders have gelatin blobs that are very unappetizing to say the least. My neighbourhood Ho Lee Shite was taken over by Orient on Yonge (Yonge and Lawrence), the food couldn't be better.
Wonderful Chinese delivery Yonge Lawrence
Thank you for the links TorontoJo. The soup actually had more chicken and shrimp than tofu and carrots. There wasn't the typical oily top that you usually get at other places. I would order it again tonight but because of the "house rules", we only get Chinese once a month. I am going to try their lunch specials this week while the SO is out!
Happy eating....
Wonderful Chinese delivery Yonge Lawrence
I ordered Chinese delivery last night from a place called Oriental at Yonge, 3443 Yonge Street. I ordered the shrimp in lobster sauce, singapore noodles along with a hot and sour soup. SO ordered the jerk chicken. I know, jerk chicken from a chinese food restaurant does not sound appealing, but it was fantastic. My soup was the best that I have had in this area.
They have a promotion on at this time which gives you 20% off orders over $25. No more C'est Bon for me, I am sticking to this place.
They are located at 3443 Yonge Street, right at Glen Echo Road. Phone number is 416-551-6736.

Where to find British Food?
I just got back from a day trip in Bowmanville and they have two nice shops on the main street that had a large selection of British food.
Recommendation for restaurant between Hamilton and Toronto
I am meeting a friend tonight for dinner and because of the closure of the Gardiner, I have agreed to meet him somewhere in the west end. We love Le Paradis, but neither one of us have a clue where to go in the west end.
Your comments are appreciated.

Steak Frites at Yonge and Lawrence
Thank you TorontoJo. I am surprised at the budget wine list.
Steak Frites at Yonge and Lawrence
I have yet to try Steak Frites at Yonge and Lawrence. I would appreciate if anyone has some feedback on this new restaurant.
Toronto's Best Italian?!?
I went to Grano this evening with a group of 5 people. I had not been there for at least 4 years and I have to report that 4 years wasn't long enough. The food was a real let down. I had a pasta with ground chicken that was so dry. My SO had the daily fish, and again the food was unedible to say the least. I was astonished at the presentation of our meals. Simply slopped on our plates.
This was a real shame because this used to be my go to place.

Sliders?
I have bought them at both Pusateris and Brunos. Both are very good. They also sell Ace Bakery buns.
Enjoy!
melt in your mouth Colombian arepas
I ate here again and I just can't say enough. Yum!
Needed Wedding rehearsal dinner recommendations
I took a look at their catering menu and it looks great. Will definately consider this place.
Needed Wedding rehearsal dinner recommendations
Sorry everyone, asleep at the wheel when I posted this. There will be 30-40 people. Location is semi important because most people will not have a car. So central would be nice. The event is scheduled for July 31.
Thank you again.
Needed Wedding rehearsal dinner recommendations
I am hosting a wedding rehearsal dinner in late July and have no idea where to go. Most of the people are from the UK. I was thinking of a dinner cruise, but I have heard that the food is dreadful.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
melt in your mouth Colombian arepas
WOW, wonderful wonderful wonderful food. After reading the Toronto Star article about this place, we decided to give this place a go. Simple fair but Bettyvee was dead on in her review. I had the mix arepa ($5 even), combo of beef, chicken and cheese. It was heaven between an unleavened cornmeal patty. SO had the reina pepiada arepa ($6 even) avacado, chicken, mayo and onions. He finished off with the sausage arepa ($4 even) chrizo sausage. All were served with 5 types of condiments. I can't say enough, truly mouth watering.
The sweet couple (Sandra and Juan) working behind the counter made the visit worth while. It is a very simple place with a couple of tables and counter seating. They are in the process of getting their liqour license but frankly it would change the atmosphere of the place. Loud Columbian music played from the giant tv made me feel like I was back on the streets in the Northern Andes.

Canning and bottling
Canadian Tire stocks them year round. In a pinch you can get them at the dollar store but you are more than likely going to pay per jar.
Restaurant/pub recommendation for 4 ladies
Thank you everyone for taking the time to respond. We have decided on Beer Bistro. I hope it's hopping on a Tuesday evening. I hope the Leafs aren't playing because I am not interested into stepping into a funeral environment!
Restaurant/pub recommendation for 4 ladies
Thanks Rabbit. Age range is 30-40. These people have never been to TO. They are from a small town in BC, they want to wear jeans so nothing really fancy. Good food is the criteria.
Thanks again.
Good kosher caterers?
Read the fine print when you are using GMB. They billed my credit card 4 months after my wedding to cover chef fees. I agree, food is good, but morally I wouldn't use them again.
Restaurant/pub recommendation for 4 ladies
I don't really go out to pubs downtown that often and require your help. I am entertaining three ladies from out of town and would like to take them somewhere fun. They are staying at the Harbourfront Westin but I have a car so I am the DD for the evening.
Thank you everyone.
Where to get a good apple crumble pie in midtown TO today - Thanksgiving!
Pino's Bakery on Avenue (across from Bruno's) is open today. I got a pumpkin pie from him yesterday and it was great. It beats paying $20 for a pie at Pusateri's.
Villa d'Este, Como?
This place is spectacular. The menus may be difficult to obtain on line. Food is fantastic but make sure you are dressed to the nines.

Sorry it took so long to dig up this address, but give this a try.
