Lots of Christmas Ham, what are your recommendations now?
I have all this delicious ham from Christmas. In all due respect to the ham, I do not like calling it "leftover." What are your recommendations for using this yummy Smithfield ham now? All suggestions much appreciated.

Condiment to go with ham and smoked turkey
A family favorite with ham is to mix a good mustard, with a quality mayonaise, finely chopped green bell pepper, finely chopped onion. There never have been measurments. But the sauce should be the color of egg yolk. More mustard than mayo Let it sit over night. We can't serve ham without it.

My husband and I just made the Snow ball cookie from the following receipe:
2 sticks of butter softened
1 cup powdered sugar, divided
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups of flour
1 cup finely chopped pecans
350 oven
beat butter, vanilla and half powdered sugar until fluffy, then gradually added flour. Added pecans and shaped into 1 inch balls. Baked for about 14 minutes. Rolled in powdered sugar.
They do not taste like grandma's. They are OK. Unfortunately, we did not get Grandma's receipe. I know, shame on us.
But, can you share your receipe? Grandma's were buttery, short and just plain yummy. Ours were not buttery enough and just lacked the texture of Grandma's.

Oh my, I might from at this point be the most unpopular person. But, we had a goat "Trouble" who was my children's best friend until our Hespahic field workers decided he would be a great "celebration." Ok folks, you can say or do want you want with my input however that was over 20 years ago and it is still a big deal to my family

OMG, you are all the best!! You have given me so many ideas, my head is swimming. Taos, I am flying, made my reservations in June. Key Bridge Marriott and FF miles. Going with my ultra conservative former sis in law. (divorced her bro, not her) We got tickets from Sen. Feinstein as we applied the minute he won. Hey, I am the quintessential optimist. What would I have done if my man didn't win? Seek psychiatric care? OK, all kidding aside, I am beside myself with the excitement of it all. There is a market a couple of blocks away evidently. We will avail ourselves of your suggestions, in addition of course to sampleing of the DC fare! Thanks so much. If you would like, I will report back.

We are heading out for DC for the Inauguration. We will bring our cocktail mix and a few of the "regular suspects" ie mixed nuts, Asian Mix, crackers ? We don't want to eat every meal out. We will have a refridgerator, that's it. I am thinking about hard boiled eggs (maybe packing in a double zip lock bag with pepper marinade, putting in a zip lock bag. Of course we will have the normal coffee maker too.
Any creative suggestions?

I found the secrets to the best chocolate chip cookie
Years ago I worked for a very famous cookie lady. You are so right on one front, over cooking is the deadly sin. However, marjarine is another deadly sin. Yes, the batter needs to be cold, untouched by the human hand and baked quickly after mixing. (do not over mix) I would agree with 350, but convection is the best of course. If you must use the premade dough, yes, bake it until when you give it the finger test, you get just a little resistence. Good luck, enjoy

We have tickets to the swearing in ceremony. Staying at the Key Bridge Marriott. We are planning on catching the metro around 5am. Do you agree? What would you do for breakfast, lunch? Would you recommend we brown bag it? Or plenty of restaurants in the area?

Forgot to say, parchmant paper is the only way. It will allow you to pull those cookies off the hot sheet fast and stop their cooking.

I absolutely agree. Give a quick turn to your cold butter, sugar and vanilla. Over whipping at any stage will result in flat cookies. When you combine the butter/sugar/egg mixture with the flour mixture, again, just a few quick turns. Do not over mix here or you will again warm your dough which will result in flat cookies. Good luck. When you get those perfect, hot warm, soft chocolate cookies! Whew, yum, yum

Humus dip with pita chips (I needed to be fast and easy at this point) also, little pots of mixed nuts served with Boodles, tonic and a squeeze of lime.
Champagne flutes
Romaine spears dribbled with my favorite blue cheese dressing receipe, crisp bacon b, shaved hard boiled egg and sprinkled with fresh flat leafed parsley and a squeeze of lemon
Linquine, asparagus, shrimp and roasted garlic
Breadsticks. (made the dough the night before)
Grandpa Chets Homemade Creame liquour for desert
Again, thank you. This is my go to place when for great suggestions, lovely people and ispiration.
