Standing Rib Roast...HELP!
Thanks, BG. I'm doing it on a gas grill rotisserie, with the heat source coming from a vertical burner in the rear (not underneath the roast). Should I put the burner on low? If so, can anyone ballpark a cooking time? It's going to be about 25-30 degrees tommorow.
Standing Rib Roast...HELP!
I'm cooking a 6 bone prime rib on the rotisserie. I've checked MANY web sites and each one has a different answer to my question. Can anyone tell me at what temp (F) I should remove the roast from the heat to get a nice medium rare? I 'm looking for the temp that will allow me to let it rest for the proper amount of time (20 minutes?) before carving. Thanks, and Merry Christmas!
Lobster Prices
I've been reading about Lobster prices hitting record lows, as the Lobstermen are getting only $2.25 LB for their catch. Does any one know what the retail prices are in Boston and vicinity?
Black Currant Juice
I saw in another post somebody reccomended pick your own rasberries, apples etc. at Maple lane farrms in Preston, CT, not far from foxwoods. I agree it's a beautiful location with great atmosphere. However, when I was there I purchased a bottle of their Maple Lane farm Black Currant Juice, which they make on site with their own currants. It was Delicious. Anyone seen this for sale anywhere in Massachusetts? It's too far to drive to pick up another half-gallon, but I may be forced to!

Am I Crazy? [moved from Boston Board]
That was my point when I called him....sell that garbage if you must, but for 7 or 8.95. People would then know what to expect. Also, when he told me it didn't say "real Veal" on the menu, I mentioned that he had a hamburger on the menu that didn't say real beef anywhere in the description. He couldn't answer that!

Am I Crazy? [moved from Boston Board]
Last weekend, we went to a rural area in SE Connecticut to visit my sister and brother inlaw. They were going to a charity ball mon Saturday night, so we watched my neice and ordered take out from the only restaurant in town. I ordered veal parm, which i figured no one coulcd screw up. At 15.95, I thought it was rather expensive for a rural stripmall type plac, but it's only money.
When I picked up the food, the lot was packed but the restaurant was empty....everyone was in the bar. Bottom line is I got home and The veal parmesan was a frozen pressed veal patty. Unedible. I called the owner and he told me that he never said it was REAL VEAL on the menu. I told him you can get real veal in the boston area for under 15.00. he said he was in the business for 21 years and I was insulting his intelligence. Offered a refund, which I refused. Just wanted an admission that he was selling a low grade dog food for 15.95.
he admitted this but stated that if he sold real veal parm, he would have to charge twice as much. Pleaqse let me know if I'm nuts, and send me li nks for places with "real" veal parm for 15.95 or less
Seafood shacks North of Boston
I used to live in Wintrop and I loved the fried clams at Royal. Whenever I would mention this to people, they looked at me like I had two heads! Glad to hear that I'm not the only fan.
Dinner near Copley
I can tell you where not to go! Stayed t the Westin on Saurday night and had dinner at Turner Fisheries. Very ordinary and food, bad atmosphere. I knew this already by reading the boards, but my wife made the reservation. Stay away!
