Anyone atempt homade frozen Pizza?

So I FINALLY got a kitchen aid. I'm looking to bang out more pizzas. Growing up, I ate my share of frozen pizzas and witnessed the evolution and now, the de-evolution. You see, fo rmy money I can't get a decent frozen pizza. I can't order one delivered because they arrive cold and with cheaper ingredients than the frozen one. I usually resolve to keep a frozen one stashed for my pizza needs. Has anyone tried to store their own? I mean, is it a problem of par-baking? Do I just plastic wrap the heck out of it when it cools? What's the deal? I would love to learn from others' mistakes and spare myself the anguish. Tips? Advice?

LARGE portion sizes and healthy?

I respectfully disagree. I am glad you are concerned though. Though simply "just eating large portion sizes" is a gross oversimplification I have been on The Warrior Diet for about 3+ years now and I haven't looked back. Actually, I am looking to eat it all at once. LOL. Sorry guys.

Definitive beer store?

AWSOME! Thanks so much. I had no idea. My wife works around the corner! I can't wait to check it out.

Artisan Bread for wedding

Thanks for the thread and advice. As to the wedding type, no problem Kosher. The idea came to us when we were invited to a wedding as a guest (i was an acquaintance of the bride) which meant that, for the first time I had been to a wedding were all i had to do was show up, drink there booze and be happy for them. My Fiance and I had a blast. So we thought, why not have a wedding where NO ONE has any titles (no dress to buy or tux to rent). 3 day weekend party. 25 people (the closest of friends) renting a cabin on the lake. I get there early with my mate and prep everything the guest arrive in the evening and we have a crawfish boil that evening. Next day we do breakfast (morning people volunteer to get that stared) make we do a lite sandwich and beer lunch while we goof around on the lake. We come in that evening and BBQ burgers and I am designing some in cased meat blends (a la Doug Sohn). Maybe have some fun with a deep fryer. Next day everyone decorates or helps prep the pig feast and bu dusk the ceremony happens. FEAST AND SLEEP! Next day brunch and pull out.

Very communal, slow, and honest. Instead of a cake I am thinking fresh cookies. I mean, can you really beat a hot fresh scratch cookie from the oven? I am just trying to reinvigorate the wedding to fit our style. Everyone seems to be really excited.

Artisan Bread for wedding

I have about 20 heads.
I have ovens
unsure of mixer status- I am renting a cabin

I really only need 1 or 2 good batches.
The bread is just an hors d'oeurve to have around.

As for the other carbs:
I will serve biscuits with the BBQ wedding dinner.
waffles for breakfast.
Gourmet hot dog buns would be a plus for the grilling on the second night. But not sure.

Artisan Bread for wedding

Hey guys. Here is the gist. I am getting married. Naturally, I am the one in charge of food. I am having a slow wedding (3days) akin to slow food. In fact, food is a MAJOR part of this slow wedding. I have a lot of ideas and will probably post food problems as they occur. So, one idea is to have lots of fresh fruit and veggies around all the time. Everything in season and as local as I can get it (it is in Arkansas). I think the theme of friendly, family, warm, easy like sunday morning would really be emphasized with fresh warm bread with basic jams, butter,s honey, balsamic spread around. Not being a bread maker and hosting a wedding in the sticks- what is the best way to make this happen.

Is there a way to score fresh live dough from a real bakery? Can you freeze the live yeast like in the popular book a while back? Do you trust shiped bread? I am looking for freshness and flavor. Whole grains and non bleached flour. A rich Semolina and the like? Am I trying to reach for a goal that is too far?

LARGE portion sizes and healthy?

No, I want one big meal. I'm on a special diet. Thanks for the concern pikawicca but I respectfully disagree with you. I'll take the large meal you can eat all you want.

LARGE portion sizes and healthy?

I'm looking for a place (preferably North-ish) where I can get some healthy ethnic grub in a very large portion size. I'm on a particular diet and basically, going out is expensive. I need like 3 entrees. I was wondering if there was a little mom and pop like place where I can get huge steaming bowels of beans and rice or stewed vegetables or chicken etc.... Does this ring any bells?

Pasticceria Natalina in Andersonville

I totally agree. Best place for old school corner store bakery. They are indeed specialized but that's the Andy neighborhood for you. They epitomize the Andersonville small store vibe. Every time I go in I get a smile and a mostly brand new selection of treats to drool over. The obviously keep some stand by best seller favorites around. I find it be be perfectly balanced and detailed food. I am no Italian baked good expert but I find it suitably European/non-American pastry in that it isn't overly sweet. The pastry is the star not the sugar fix. Let me break it down for you: the place is run be a sweet, dedicated, knowledgeable, husband and wife who are beautiful and I would like to know what isn't to love?

filipino Sisig in chicago?

help a brother out. Looking from some tasty pig.

Definitive beer store?

Is there a place in Chicago where I can shop that caters to the beer explorer? What liquor stores in Chicago have the "awsome" beer selection as there hook. I am new to Chicago and have yet to find "my store".

On a fluke- anyone know where I can find a good SAKE dealer. Someone knowledgable and well stocked?

Cupuacu, anyone know where I can find it?

I am also looking for this stuff.

Argyle help

I moved up north (edgewater) and recently returned form a trip to China. My favorite place for a fix is Happy Chef in Chinatown but my lady friend doesn't want to treck all the way there most nights. I know Argyle is more of a Viet district but here is my question.

Can I find anywhere to get cooked Chicken Feet or Xiao Long Bao. I don't know how I lived without these in the past. Can I find any of these up north? Can I find them at any time other than the afternoon dim sum time? Thanks.

Yogurt maker(read: Greek). Good investment?

I found something great today. No machine. Yogurt by way of crock pot. I haven't tried this but it sounds like the way to go, especially considering I like my food in bulk. The problem is setting up a large scale cheesecloth strainer. I'd like to rig something I can re-use again and again.

Yogurt maker(read: Greek). Good investment?

Hi guys. Quick question. I am soon to move in with my girlfriend and our kitchen and budget shall marry (ahead of us) but the point is, we are adicts to greek yogurt. Particularly FAGE Greek Total style. Too much of our grocery budget is eaten by tubs of this stuff.

Now, if I buy a machine can I recreate this tast/texture? Is it a solid investment? Will I save money? I tried to reach out to "chicgail " because she said her husband had attempted this but there is no e-mail on chowhound. Apparetly, I need a "starter" for this and I thought using the same style/brand would work right?
