Thanks so much for this info! I'm re-encouraged to give Apple Pan a try.

Best Banana Cream Pie?

Hey, y'alls - OP here!! Just an update - my family and I absolutely loved Bake n' Broil's banana cream pie. Large chunks of banana, sweet custard-y filling, served really cold. Total yum. I regret to say we have not made it yet to Apple Pan simply because I go to restaurants with my elderly parents. I'm told Apple Pan has a bit of a "stand and wait until space available, then hurry up and eat cuz people are waiting" atmosphere. My folks move slowly, eat slowly, you know. I love Bake n' Broils homey, relaxed atmosphere!

Griffith Park Observatory Picnic suggestions

Thanks for the suggestions! I've been to the observatory restaurant a couple of times - it's actually pretty good - but I'm looking for something new/different/exciting.

Griffith Park Observatory Picnic suggestions

Maybe not large groups, although there are plenty of groups of young school age kids sitting around, eating their lunch. It will be just me and my daughter tucked away somewhere - maybe we'll walk up a trail for a bit and eat there.

Griffith Park Observatory Picnic suggestions

I will be doing my annual visit to the observatory and want to take some good eatin' along for a picnic on the grass. Since I'm taking the 101 to N. Vermont Ave route, can any of y'alls recommend a good place to pick up some lunch?

If you moved to the Palos Verdes area, where would you end up eating?

Bamboo Song, right next to the library. Get the chicken pho. The best ever. Trump has awesome hamburgers, too!

Pavich's Brick Oven Pizzeria in San Pedro

Okay, I went there and got three pizzas. One word: AWESOME!!!! The owner was super friendly and nice and make great recommendations (garlic slivers in the tomatoes I had on one of my pizzas), he gave my mom a free sampling of soup and also garlic-marinated roasted red peppers. The crust is hand rolled, thin and crispy - just excellent! Better than Joe's in Santa Monica. Croatian items on the menu (cabbage rolls with mashed potatoes, pork sandwiches, etc...) sound delicious so I'll be trying them out also. Great recommend!

Best onion rings in LA...who's got them?

Heaven help me, but Jack In the Box has always had yummy onion rings - if you need a quick drive-thru fix!

Exploring Sawtelle

I didn't see this mentioned, but Empanada's Place (3811 Sawtelle) has been awesome for years. I always get a bunch of the ham and cheese (not very exciting, I know, but DELICIOUS!) empanadas. I take them home and then gobble them up in front of the TV. Heaven.

Poll: What restaurants do you eat in most often?

Bamboo Song in Palos Verdes. I get their chicken pho. Every time (which is once a week).

Food around USC

This is a great post. Every summer, I take my daughter up to the museums and rose garden and the only place we can find to eat (we don't like the museum fare) are the stupid indoor depressing eateries on campus.

Finally a place to eat in PV!

I've lived in PV all my life. I grew up riding and became an engineer!! Does anyone remember the old Hungry Tiger? It was located approximately where the Burger King is now (on top of the hill). My favorite place? Bamboo Song (inbetween the library and Promendade/Avenues/Whatever-it's-called-this-year). Love, love, love their pho. I get the chicken. Every time.

Best Banana Cream Pie?

I plan on eating instead of shopping on Black Friday. I heard both Pie n Burger and Apple Pan have awesome banana cream pie. Is one better than the other? Any other choices?
