Is it safe to let my chicken stock simmer on the stove overnight while I sleep?

Do not leave cooking processes unattended. Ask a fireman.

Price Chopper Grocery from Missouri

The Price Chopper in our neighborhood (KC suburb) was recently remodeled into a grocery fantasia with a grill, hot bar, sushi bar, salad and olive bar, and a deli and speciality area that is half as big as the old store was. They have bulk grain, cereal, and candy; a large meat and seafood counter; a whole section dedicated to organic/gluten free/"health" stuff; a large regular/organic produce section, a bakery, and a pharmacy along with the regular grocery items. I would suggest checking the online weekly ads for an idea of grocery prices. Other than some of the bakery items being kind of squicky we love it. No telling what their plans are in your town, but they do know how to throw down.

Costco Food Finds - 1st Quarter 2015

UDI's is gluten-free bread, my partner buys it. I've never seen the holes. I would address those quality concerns straight to UDI's. That stuff is expensive.

Do You Bother With Q&A Posts?

Yeah. I do think that if the responders had not ignored the fact that it was a Q&A and started asking questions anyway, it would have not turned into a discussion. I have the feeling that this point is an eternal Möbius strip, so I'm done.

Do You Bother With Q&A Posts?

Are you talking about the "affordable shower" thread? It appears to be a perfect example for using Q&A. The OP laid out the necessary criteria for the shower (day, number of people, price point, no alcohol, location) and appears to want suggestions, not more questions or discussions. Q&A would work in many scenarios; the underlying problem is some people do not want to change their habits.

Martin Yan new show on PBS. Vietnamese cooking

What you wrote was that it would be better to have a Russian chef leading a Russian cooking show than an American, which was the reason for my comment. Clearly you don't think Martin Yan is qualified to host a Vietnamese cooking show; I don't agree with you but your opinion is as valid as mine.

Costco To End Relationship With American Express

The "spiff" is processing fees. The primary reason Costco makes an exclusive deal w/ a card brand or bank is that they can tightly control what percent-per-transaction they have to pay for each purchase made on the card. Those fees, depending on the processor, can add up to kabillions of dollars per year . Dunno about Canada and debit cards, but the processing fee is capped on debit cards in the US and that's why Costco takes those, no matter what the card is.

This is a must read thread from N.J. Board

Yup. I have no argument with the quality of the content, there are just fewer eyeballs looking for it.

This is a must read thread from N.J. Board

As time has passed there are now so many other faster and easier ways to get restaurant information. IMO less focus on restaurants has to do with media evolution and not much to do with the way Chowhound is managed. Really, why would anyone search through any regional board here, remapped or not, when they can type a zip code in a search field on their phone and get results in less than five seconds? To pay someone to try to keep a Chowhound restaurant database up to date here seems like a waste.

I think they will probably take care of changing it over when the time comes. Still a year to go.

Rachael Ray gets on my last nerve

From what I can gather, her cooking show has morphed into a talk show with one or two cooking segments.

She has been doing the talk/cook format show for like 9 seasons.

Lady Caught Stealing Rhubarb from Neighbor

Why would something NEW need to happen to this Iowa woman for the OP to want to share this video? Possibly what is old to you is new to someone else.

Burnt toast? No, BURNED toast.

Burnt toast and burnt ends do not belong in the same conversation.
BTW "Oklahoma Joes" is just "Joes" now.

Favorite "Seasoning Salt"? Is This Regional?

I started with Lawry's but now just use the grocery store brand. Mainly use it to season the flour if I'm breading pork chops and stuff. I suppose you could make your own but I don't want to.

Is Chowhound dead?

I would rethink the caps next time, looked like spam to me as well.

What products at Trader Joes to avoid?

Am I missing something? Live clams open when they're cooked, but frozen clams are surely all dead, so why would they open at all?

Kansas City for one night

Agree that American is a good expense account dinner idea, probably better enjoyed not solo. Tasting menu $95, wine pairing $75. Aixois does a good Croque Monsieur for lunch. Jax Fish House is newish and has good oysters, although it has locations in Colorado if that makes it too much of a chain for you.
