Frenchie reservations

Ive been trying to call Frenchie for the past 2 weeks but its always a machine in French. Does anyone know what they say or if I am suppose to leave a message? If so do they understand English? Any help would be great. Thanks

Christmas Eve dinner in Paris?

My husband and I will have 2 nights in Paris and were looking for the most memorable meal. Price is not a factor but Im not looking to go to a really fancy restaurant where you feel stuffy and too proper. We're really into adventurous types of food like offal but also like bistro type fares.

What is YOUR top ramen list?

I agree with L C. Izakaya Sozai has an amazing tonkotsu ramen that they cook for 2 days and even has a semi runny egg yolk!

Best place for a date tonight: Vinoteque or Tasca?

Vinoteque has a nice outdoor patio although the food sucks. Tasca is always a hit or miss. If you dont mind driving I would say tasting kitchen or Gjelina on abbot kinney

NYC foody in need of recommendations for week long LA trip

LA k town has the best korean food in the whole US so I would suggest checkin out a couple spots there.
Kobawoo is known for their pork belly wraps. All their food is good but you definitely want to go for this. They also have this for a lunch special which is only 10$ including all the sides and soup.
Honey Pig also a pork belly but its BBQ on a grill with veggies and kimchee you grill together. At the end they make a spicy fried rice on the same grill you cooked the meats.

For a traditional Japanese experience Shinsengumi in Torrance has chicken parts skewers and pub style (izakaya) tapas dishes

Chinese dim sum in Chinatown Emperors Palace. Theres usually a long wait but thats a good sign for dim sum. If you dont mind traveling a little further Monterey Park is filled with good dim sum spots. You cant go wrong with any of them.

Gjelina is a really good restaurant but its not Ethnic

Mexican Food go to King Taco or El Taurino.

Hollywood Area Wine Bars

Cube Marketplace on La Brea. Theres some good ones downtown: Corkbar is nice and Im checking out Bottlerock tonight which is suppose to be good too. Its hard to find a real wine bar in Hollywood. Aoc has some great cheese and really good food. Also Little Door is good too.

Best Halo-Halo in LA?

Ive been looking for one too but the ones I found are just not as good as the ones up north where they have a huge filipino community (Daly City). We dont have many filipino joints in the LA area..

Any Great New Restaurant for Bday Dinner?

A new place called Barbrix opened up in Silverlake is really charming and good. Its far but definitely worth the drive. Their ambiance is really nice and so is their service. They have a patio out front too. If youre looking for something fancy you pretty much have named all the big ones. Are you looking for really good food or just a nice scene? Barbrix food was amazing....

Need a ktown rec

Honey Pig on 8th. Its all different kinds of pork and everything is grilled on this huge grill including kimchee, veggies, etc. You can wrap the pork with the cooked kimchee and add different vegetables in it. At the end they make a bokkum bap on the grill with all the juices from the pork. Im not a fan of pork bbq but this place made me feel otherwise.

Seafood/Shellfish Restaurant for Mom's 70th Birthday - will drive almost anywhere in So Cal for her favorite food.

I would say Hungry Cat. They have one of the biggest shellfish/seafood selection overall and the ambiance is nice but not too pretentious. Boiling crab is good but its too down and dirty especially for a 70th bday.
Another option is Water Grill but their not as extensive as Hungry Cat.
