For fresh corn tortillas on the weekend, check out Tienda Y Carniceria "La Marqueta", 4701 Hillsborough Rd in Durham NC. Its on the corner of Sparger Rd. and Hillsborough Rd. They keep them warm in a big insulated cooler and sell them by the pound.

Todos Santos, Baja Sur

Anyone thinking about visiting Todos Santos from Los Cabos should know that a 40 km stretch of Mexico 19 is under construction between km 72 and km 112. There are intermittent stretches of semi-rough dirt detours. We made it fine in a Hyundai Attitude. We also got to see some exciting dump truck races on the way back to Cabo. 8^) Those guys are maniacs!

In Charleston 3/28 - 3/30: looking for recommendations/companions

Speaking of Shem Creek, there's The Wreck of the Richard & Charlene which overlooks it. Very fresh seafood with hole-in-the-wall atmosphere. If there's a wait you sit on the dock and have a beer served from the ice chest. We're going at Easter and are looking forward to trying Husk.

Huitlacoche in Durham?

I've always be intrigued by this Mexcan delicacy and wondered what it tastes like. With the huge increase in hispanic population and the resulting tiendas I was wondering if anyone knew of someplace that sold it fresh. The article link below says it grows best in hot, drought conditions like we are experincing now.

Skyline chili lover-Raleigh, NC

Being from Texas and now living in North Carolina, saying 'Chili' or 'Barbecue' will often get as many different opinions as there are people as to what's the best. That said, I saw a recipe for 5-way on Cooks Country TV this weekend and wondered if any afficianados had tried it and if you had any thoughts about its authenticity.
