Long Beach Eats
Agree with At Last, yet to go but only hear great things. Michael's on Naples is a very good option for Italian if you dine upstairs its more casual than down fantastic either way, sustainable foods! Christy's on Broadway just reopened, great bar & tapas, Sushi On Fire on 2nd, tavern on 2nd is a good pub-like restaurant (great beers & burgers), Congregation Ale House has some really good tapas-like options, Lola's on 4th is good Mexican but I would agree withthe Enrique's rec, especially if you get the pork shank!

ISO Live Music & at least decent foods.... HELP!!!
we are heading out this saturday and looking for a place between redondo beach - newport beach to listen to live music, eat & drink. Prefer the music to be either oldies rock or something that you cant help but smile listening to. doesnt have to be jazz (going to jazz fest next mo) but something!??! :) again, the better the food the better it looks to me but our friends are happy with great entertainment. looking to go semi early for din. :)

Best Mexican Restaurant in LA?
personally we are big fans of Gardens of Taxco... their melt in your mouth quesadilla appetizer, the flavorful soup, dont forget about the salsa, chips & pickled vegs we LOVE it... but, not only for the food.. :) the chicken in salsa verde never fails, neither does their surprisingly good pasta & cheese! the mole is a fave of friends and never had a bad meal here!!

Fun, inexpensive dining in Orange County?
Gyu-Kaku is a fantastic option! Japanese style korean bbq, you cook your own at your personal charcoal grill in the table, very interactive and a lot of fun. the bibimba rice dishes are fantastic as are the rest of their items. Harami miso is a best seller!!

Jsix? - first floor of a hotel on J & six, fantastic!!! more american style, not too casual
Johnny Rottens/Sloppy Joes - mix of american & italian, you can order each at either, full bar, great service & HH deals not to mention fantastic burgers, garlic tater tots & tijuana dogs! lol

Most definitely Michael's, it's a bit more casual if you sit up on the roof top deck, it is ALWAYS phenom! Absolutly my favorite place. I cannot say enough about it!

Truffle dishes in LA and OC - seasonal update?
Andrea Ristorante at Pelican Hill in Newport Coast - AMAZING porcini risotto finished in a wheel of parm with a generous amount of white truffles shaved over the top. $90. This was truly fantastic, it touched every part of my tastebuds!

Tavern on San Vicente/Barrington. They have a brisket hash that is amazing! As is the fritatta. Fantastic each time!!!

For japanese that is similar to korean bbq go to Gyu-Kaku corner of Warner & Beach! The bibimba (rice in a hot stone pot), Harami Miso, Gyu salad & all the veggies are fantastic!
Gardens of Taxico - Worst Mexican in LA
Wow. First, Gardens of Taxco is more than about just the food, it's about the ambiance but you have to like that cheesy dark kind of place. I always get the chicken breast salsa verde, it's always good! And, the margaritas, wine or not, tasty. So my salsa might be out of a can, i dont particularly care to be honest, I'm out, enjoying the company more than anything and not having to do the dishes :) I've been going there on and off for over a decade and always go back.... it might not be for everyone but then again, neither is everything. The great thing about these boards are that they are based on ones opinion... you know the saying, like ******** we all have them and you know it's ok if they differ. :) I'm not a fan of fois gras but I know my beluga does that mean my opinion doesnt count? :) Happy Eating!
