Halifax - Gourmet delivery?

Thanks for the suggestion. Pete's is a grocery store, I gather? I don't see anything on their website about the kind of ready-made meals they carry, so I'll call them and see what they can deliver for me.

Halifax - Gourmet delivery?

I'm looking for recommendations for gourmet delivery, as well, but rather than delivery of a basket, I'd like a delivery service of ready-made meals. I'd like to be able to order some healthy lunches and dinners that require only reheating or other minimal effort for a very busy boyfriend with a particularly busy couple of weeks coming up. Has anyone heard of a good company that does this in Halifax? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Dine Out Vancouver - Where would you go?

Yeah, the bookings just go quickly for some restaurants... I got a reso for 4 at West at 7:30pm on a weekday, so there were bookings available in that "prime time" window, but I was on the site with my coffee yesterday before 8:00am. Actually, I changed it to an earlier day at lunch so there must have been some reasonable times available then. I think the event is shortened this year, though, which makes it tougher. Isn't it usually a full two weeks?

As for Chambar, I don't know what the deal is - maybe they aren't doing online reservations and you have to call? Or maybe the bookings were just gone quickly...?

Dan G, I don't know if you mean this Sunday or next, but I think the event doesn't start until the 26th, which is Monday. If you're just in town for a few days and wanted an enjoyable West meal, that might be just as well if you don't have to deal with the "Dine Out" crowd. These places can get a little crowded during this time of year...

Dine Out Vancouver - Where would you go?

It's an event that runs Monday, April 26th - Thursday, May 6th. The list is up as of today and resos are going like crazy...!

Memorial Day weekend in Vancouver

Thanks for the info - I'll have to try it. :)

Free range meat near Vancouver?

Hopcott Premium Meats is another option that fits your description - their store is right on the farm. Nice place, good meat. It's in Pitt Meadows/Maple Ridge, so probably 45 minutes from downtown. http://www.hopcottmeats.ca/

I was going to ask how you'd gotten the list! I'm eagerly awaiting the 19th, after which I'm sure there will be a good thread on here about favourite choices. :)

Memorial Day weekend in Vancouver

Theresa's has great breakfast. Good garlic flavour in their rough-cut hashbrowns and good coffee. A friend who 'breakfasts' on the drive often recommends the Nest, as well, but I haven't been yet.

Downtown Birthday Dinner

Thanks for the great recap of your meal! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and happy belated 35th, as well! I haven't made it to Cioppino's but it's near the top of my list.

Farmers' Markets in Vancouver

Thanks for all the great info, everyone! I will definitely do a market tour over the next few weeks to check them all out.

Farmers' Markets in Vancouver

Hello friends! Anyone know any good famers' markets in Vancouver? I have heard that there is one in the West End, near Nelson Park, on Saturday mornings but keep forgetting to go. I'm willing to go anywhere in Vancouver for some good produce, eggs, etc! Can anyone make a suggestion?

Deals on meals -- who has 'em in Vancouver?

Has anyone tried Bishop's "out of the box" early bird dinners? I'm intrigued..

Romantic Vancouver dinner - help!

Hello! I'm hoping for some recommendations: my boyfriend and I are interested in trying a new restaurant in Vancouver to celebrate five years together. We're in our late twenties but are professional degree students, so are looking for good value in the medium to medium-high price range. I know this city offers some amazing food for good prices, so I am hoping to keep our bill under $200 for three courses and wine.

We've been out of town for a couple of years, so I haven't tried a lot of the new-ish restaurants in town. I loved Chambar when I went a few years ago, and I'm intrigued by Boneta. I was also thinking about Cru, which a friend of ours suggested as a classic Vancouver location which offers great value. I'd love to try West but think it might stretch our budget a bit too far; I'd like to feel free to order what we'd like without worrying - otherwise, what fun would that be?!

We're looking for a bit of a romantic setting, but aren't adverse to a lively atmosphere; I'm just hoping to avoid anything too trendy or young... We're looking for good food and conversation more than to "see and be seen", if that makes sense! Close to downtown would be nice, but we're flexible.

Please help! Thanks in advance!
