cool dinner to show parents
these are all great. thank you. one thing i neglected to mention. my Dad is extra-sensitive to noise. Are any of these places a little more quiet than others? He wants to be able to "chat with his kids." sorry I didn't that in the original post...thanks.
cool dinner to show parents
Having a quasi-family reunion with my parents and two sisters (parents 60, sisters late 20s) in NYC this week. They are from Virginia and are used to eating at upscale mid-town type restaurants when they visit (Per Se, Le Bernardin, and they love Aquavit). We are eating at Del Posto on Friday but I wanted to take them somewhere a little different on Thursday. I was hoping to bring them down to the West Village, East Village, or LES for a fun, cool NYC meal. Does anyone have any suggestions? Food can be really well done standard fare or something slightly "adventurous" (along the lines of Momofoku) I am looking for the price point of places like August, Tia Pol, inoteca, and Market Table.
Any Thoughts?

coming back to NYC after 4 years -- need restaurant recs
My boyfriend and I are visiting NYC for Memorial Day Weekend. We used to live in the West Village, but moved to Cali in 2006. Restaurants we used to love: August, Bellavitae, Casa Mono, Inoteca, Morandi, Cookshop, Market Table.
We are looking for some new places to try that would be fun, moderately priced, and delicious. Any recs would be helpful, preferably below midtown. Thanks!

koreatown best
My girlfriend's family is in town for a few days and they really want to get into some korean food. They're adventurous people and willing to try anything. They prefer to go into koreatown for the meal. Moderate prices are encouraged. Any thoughts? Feel free to pass on any previous threads on the subject. Thanks.
burger club
that's a very solid idea. good name for the group going as well. also thought of san francisco saloon and 26 beach (though in Marina del Rey) as options.
burger club
so I've decided to start a burger-of-the-week club with a group of friends. We hope to scour L.A.'s various neighborhoods for the best burger in town. The group will probably be around 10-12 people and we understand waits will sometimes be an issue. I've read many of the burger posts on this site and put together a list of over 200 spots! It's a challenge I readily accept. With that, we were looking to make our maiden voyage somewhere in west la/culver city approx. area. Standard suggestions (i.e. father's office, apple pan, the counter) are well known and will probably be avoided for our first trip. Where in this area would you go for your first burger-of-the-week? thanks!
Coffee shop/Tea House in West Hollywood?
I'm looking for a cute, comfortable spot to grab coffee or tea in West Hollywood. I know good places on the west side and in Silverlake, but it has to be in WeHo. I'm trying to avoid chains: Starbucks, Peets, or Coffee Bean. And nothing to "sceney" like Urth Cafe... Any suggestions?
seafood or ethnic
I'm coming SF this weekend from NYC and it's my girlfriend's first time visit. I got some great responses from earlier post about Broadway/Hyde area. I'm also looking to take her for some great seafood and something ethnic -- not specific to any neighborhood. I just want to give her a real taste of San Francisco fare. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
dinner in the hyde/broadway area
I'm coming into SF from NYC this weekend and wanted to hear any suggestions for dinner in the Broadway Tunnel area. It's my girlfriend's first trip to San Francisco. Looking specifically for dinner for 2, and can either walk/take short public transport to eat. I'd appreciate any ideas. Thanks.
hollywood restaurants
I'm looking for a nice place to take a date in Hollywood. We're all about the food first. Don't need a scene. Hoping to spend around $120 total, including drinks. Any suggestions?
restaurants near franklin village...
looking for a great date spot near franklin village. good food, not stuffy. ideally, two people for a 100 bucks, including drinks.
EATS NEAR ANGELIKA
Seeing a movie at the Angelika tonight, and wanted to grab a nice salad or other light fare (inexpensive to moderate) before the show. Was thinking along the lines of Cafe' Colonial. Any other suggestions?
