Coffee!
Yeah, just did some looking, Teuschers does have the clover machine...they mention it (and have pics) on their website.
Best Corn Tortillas?
I love this place. Also their bags of chips are much cheaper from the source than from most grocery stores.
I have found the homemade corn tortillas from central market (when you can find them) are pretty good for frying (super thin) but tend to get destroyed when rolled.
Coffee!
So is Teuscher the shop with the clover machine or someone else? I have been curious to try that out.
Also Thunderbird on Koenig/Woodrow use Cuvee as well. At home I like to use either Cuvee or Andersons depending on where my errands take me.
Mighty Fine Burgers - Arbor Walk
I have been to the one at the arbor walk, and was not impressed.
Everything seemed fresh, but the meat was bland and looked better than it tasted. I hate yellow mustard, and only like ketchup on fries. I have made burgers at home with just salt pepper and mayo that have way more flavor than these. I would assume it is the fat content. I am not claiming to be burger master or anything, but I know a burger can taste damn good with the most simple ingredients.
The taste of the burger is so meh, especially with how nice it looks. Oh well.
Ultimate BLT
That sounds awesome. I am curious about arugula mayo.
I have not found any super notable BLT's. The one at woodland leaves me feeling extra greasy...probably the greasy bacon and the loads of butter on the bread. I think most places don't know how to cook bacon (or the chef/cook has their own idea on 'proper bacon') or the bacon is just an afterthought or topping and is sitting in a tin, and not very fresh. A BLT cannot afford to have substandard bacon, where as a burger can survive because hey...it's bacon with tasty beef. Now a substandard burger and bacon....
I don't mind extras added to the sandwich, but a straight up BLT(good bread, mayo, T, L, and B) should stand on its own.
House Pizzeria on Airport Blvd.
I have eaten there 2 times now.
Once during the 'dress rehersal' and once this past weekend.
First time we had the potato pizza and the pepperoni pizza
Second time we had the margherita and arugula.
All pizza's had consistently good crust, with good char and nice chewyness.
The only one I would not order again is the pepperoni, probably due to the pepperoni not being that amazing. It wasn't a bad pizza, but just didn't work for me for some reason.
The other three pizza's were fantastic. The inside is wonderful, the jukebox is cool and I am so glad they have decent damn beer. Pizza and a 512 ipa are wonderful.
Need Wedding Cake: Austin, Texas, HELp!
This is where we got our wedding cake (and grooms pies) and it was awesome. From the tasting through delivery and the presentation and taste of the cake, it was professional and well done. I highly endorse these guys.
Aside from cake, they make a mean key lime pie
Need Wedding Cake: Austin, Texas, HELp!
I am glad I am not the only one that doesn't think Lucy's isn't that great. I had samples there, and was not impressed at all.
I don't get all the raves...especially for wedding cakes. If it was a birthday, that is one thing, but a super important cake, and to get just average cake..bleh.
Hot dogs, Vienna beef and Home Depot
Austin style is mango and avocado? Is this something they have determined themselves, or has there been some consensus somewhere made?
I'm not entirely serious, but I wonder what a proper austin style hot dog would be.
Hard Hat Report
First post on this board, have been lurking a while...
Anyway, what is going in at 51st and airport...where Leo's Tasty Wings and More used to be? I know that location has been dormant for a while but there is action over there.
I still haven't seen any signs as to what is going in, nor any alcohol permit apps on the window. They have some modern-ish slim horizontal windows facing airport and what looks like new fence around part of the lot.
My guess is coffee shop or bar.
