Jean Georges Foie Gras Brulee

Hi there,

two years ago, I had foie gras brulee at Jean George and was simply overwhelmed. For this years christmas dinner I'd like to produce something at least similiar at home - do you have any idea how he does it?
I posted this accidentally in the new york board first, sorry for asking twice.
many thanks for every hint and help,
best,
Tobi

Hereford Road vs. Harwood Arms [London]

Hi there,

I'll be spending a weekend in London in January and need a decision: shall I go for Hereford Road or Harwood Arms? What are the pros and cons of the two?
Wont make it to both since saturday is already reserved for St. John.
I am also thinking about renting a car, heading to seasalter for a day at the beach and lunch at the sportman. Is it worth it if you are in Londond for only three full days?
Thanks a lot

Tobi

financial crisis

hi there,

sitting here in vienna, I see one high end place closing down after the other. how is it in manhatten? did you lose any beloved places lately?

lunch at jean georges

very happy to hear that, getting more and more excited :)
the must have dishes where my question indeed, glad you didn't mention the caviar egg!

I think I'm with you on the sea scallops and the veal but I have to try the garlic soup with frog legs - only had frog legs once in paris and was very disappointed - there must be more to them.
for dessert I'm afraid I cant skip the chocolate cake, just to see what a 3 star chocolate cake tastes like! I'll try to talk my girlfriend into the peaches...

lunch at jean georges

we are having lunch at jean georges on tuesday - first time at a 3 star restaurant, very much looking forward to this!
what would you pick for 3 courses + dessert?

breakfast places upper east side

Do you have any recommendations for good breakfast places around 88th St., 1st Av? I happily walk some blocks for good bacon and coffee.

Any other tips for meals at any time of the day in this area are also appreciated.

thanks a lot for all the help so far

Knickerbocker vs. Keen's

Hy there, I am in NY next week, desperate to get a perfect steak. Our beef in europe is just not compareable...

I have a reservation at Keen's but found Knickerbocker in a top ten steakhouses list yesterday.

Has anyone eaten at both places? Is there a significant difference between their steaks? Would be grateful for any help

thanks
