Best sandwich in Manhattan?
This is an extremely loaded question but I will throw out Alidoro on Sullivan as a front runner for best sandwich in NYC. I will also second the Cuban at Cafe Habana.

Group of 8 early 20s guys- recs?
great suggestions with Momofukus...will have to think this over
Group of 8 early 20s guys- recs?
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I have narrowed it down to Cafe Asean, La Carbonara, and Mercadito tasting menu. List got narrowed down from Le Relais Venise d'Entrecote , Jimmy's No 43, Kuma Inn, and Otto. Anyone have thoughts about Cafe Asean, La Carbonara, or Mercadito?
Group of 8 early 20s guys- recs?
I'm planning a birthday dinner for a friend from college visiting from LA (originally from NY) and am in charge of putting together a birthday dinner for him this Saturday. The crowd is a mix of extreme foodies (me) to a couple guys who wouldn't be able to tell Ippudo ramen from Ramen in the box. Birthday guy is looking for a place that is has great food but can support a really lively and loud table atmosphere. Cost is also a concern, as we would like to keep it under 50-60 a person with drinks. Neighborhood isn't really an issue, but would prefer south of midtown and in Manhattan (no Brooklyn). Thanks in advance for the help.
PS. Initial thoughts included Sammy's and Stanton Social but I'm sure I can come up with some more original ideas for places
Restaurant Week 2010 - Best Steak?
I did S&W last restaurant week for lunch and did the $10 supplement to get the dry aged NY sirloin. It was a delicious steak, prepared black and blue exactly as ordered. My only complaint was that it was a little fattier (not internal marbling, but rather chunks of fat) than a typical NY strip in a non-restaurant week setting.

Dinner for 8 guys on new years eve, early 20s foodies
I like Blue Ribbon a lot. I have actually been there twice, fortunately. Incredible Bone Marrow. Just would like to try something different.
What do you all think of crispo?
Dinner for 8 guys on new years eve, early 20s foodies
While I would really like to try Allen and Delancey, I think it's slightly out of our price range. In terms of price range, I think the menu (in terms of pricing not necessarily menu) at Giorgio's of Gramercy or even Perila looked about the right price point. We will probably be drinking a good amount as well so that will be a significant part of the $75pp.

We would like to stay in Manhattan. I have been to Peter Luger, and yes I agree that it's worth the trip.
Dinner for 8 guys on new years eve, early 20s foodies
I am going to be in NYC for New Years, and I am in charge of organizing a dinner for 8 guys. We are in our early 20s (seniors in college) and all have a strong appreciation for good food. While some may enjoy larger portions in lieu of the perfectly balanced dish, all of us are relatively adventurous eaters who really enjoy a good meal. Any suggestions for a great restaurant that we could still get a reservation for new years eve? We are pretty flexible with neighborhoods and our budget is $75 per person with drink(s). Atmosphere doesn't need to be super upscale, nor does it need to cater to the frat boy. Thanks for the suggestions.
