Best SLICE in Brooklyn

I think Not Ray's in Fort Greene has great slices (and even better pies). Easier than to schlep out to Totonno's.

Where to buy German sausages

I was in Grand Central the other day and in the marketplace there is a German sausage purveyor. The sausages were quite pricey, but really outstanding.

Can anyone recommend what other places I can buy good wurst?

Where can I find coconut oil?

I have read that pure, virgin coconut oil is a great for cooking and frying, but the only place I found it was in chinatown in a very dodgy looking bottle. Does anyone have a source in Brooklyn?
Thanks

Whole Grain Baguettes at Greene Grape Provisions

Although I find the prices at Greene Grape Provisions out of control, I'm becoming addicted to their whole grain baguettes. Does anyone know where they are made? Or, alternatively, can someone recommend a recipe?
Thanks.

Republic Union Square - recipes? [moved from Manhattan board]

I've always found Republic to be a great restaurant for a short meal for a small group. Do they have a cookbook? If not, could anyone recommend a good noodle cookbook?
Thanks

New Ethiopian on Fulton in Fort Greene?

Does anyone know when the Ethiopian place on Fulton is going to open up? There is an awning, a phone number, and a closed gate.

Any background information on the place? Seems like it could be a great match for the neighborhood, especially after Keur N'Deye closed up shop. What happened to them anyway? Replaced by a gleaming and uninviting yoghurt shop...

Kif (the old Liquors)

My family went there tonight for my birthday. The food was good, but expensive. Too trendy for my taste, and the service listless for an empty restaurant. I won't go back, but not a disasterous evening by any means.

Yemen Cafe update

I think the falafel at the Fountain Cafe is really good.

Senegalese/West African near Brooklyn Flea/BBG?

What ever happened to Keur n'Deye? I just loved that place.

A bistro is outstanding.

Dakar I found to be just ok - and Madiba is awful. They are both trendy, which usually doesn't result in great food.

I'll have to try Joloff.
