Italian around convention center in Orlando?
I had forgotten about Antonio's - always thought it was pretty good. Didn't realize there was a Bice now. Even tho it is a chain, the ones I've been to do a nice job with the food and have decent wine lists.
If anyone has had specific experiences with Rona's suggestions let me know. But that gives me more possibilities.
Thanks.
Italian around convention center in Orlando?
Looking for a nice Italian restaurant while in Orlando this week-end around Universal Dr. (we are staying at the Westin). Fairly upscale, hopefully with great food and wine list. Heard very mixed reviews on Christini's. Lived there 20 years ago and have no clue. I know all will be filled with tourists, but that's what I'll be too!
Campo vs. Cucina? or somewhere else for Italian?
From other postings, I know your taste and as long as you didn't give it a bad review, I think I'll stick with Cucina then. Really like Ti Amo but think friends want a swankier setting. And will give Bottega a try on our own sometime - thanks.
BTW, will be eating at several ''top tier' places that you and I agree on, so if this is not great, won't be the end of the world!
Campo vs. Cucina? or somewhere else for Italian?
Will be in Vail area next week with friends and they want Italian food. My family always likes Camp de Fiori but I find it rather loud and crazy. We had a very good lunch buffet a few years ago at Cucina Rustica but I have seen mixed reviews lately. Open to any suggestions as to what is the best/favorite. Hopefully with a nice wine list to go along with the food.
Try Escargot 41, Naples
I appreciate the review. My husband and I are visiting my parents next week in Naples and my mother reommended this restaurant. I will tell her it's one we definitely want to try. Sounds like they are really discouraging folks from bringing in their own wine - but if their prices are fair, I'm OK with that. I will send in my own thoughts after we dine there. Thanks!
Vail Rec. Please!
I also totally agree with BlueOx. Absolutely adore Larkspur. The only thing some might see as a negative is it's not 'mountain decor' - but it is so classy and I love everything about it - food (every bite is ummm), wonderful wine list, and serious (but not stuffy) servers.
Splendido is also awesome, all the way around (we usually save it as a 'big deal' place - like the last day of our time there). Very elegant setting - the wife would be impressed. If Peter is playing the piano, tell him the Behrs from Lexington say Hi!
Big Four
Thanks for the feedback (and interesting thread). Mainly wanted to make sure it wasn't resting on it's laurels, as some old-time places tend to do. Will probably eat there, since that's what the couple with us suggested. Will report back.
Big Four
Staying at the Huntington Hotel in San Fran. Should we eat dinner at their restaurant, Big Four? Will have been in Napa eating more 'trendy' food, so thought maybe an 'old school' place (that I've heard this is) would be ok. But I don't want the old guy next to me falling asleep in his Fr. onion soup - and I just checked - that's really on the menu! Or is there something else around (Nob Hill) that we shouldn't miss? Thnx.
Press Club
Thank you so much for your input. Sounds like something to skip - or maybe just peek in to see the decor!
Press Club
Will be in the San Fran area in February. Press Club has been recommended but I see little mention of it on this board. I checked the web site, so know what it is about - but would like to get some feedback from anyone who has actually been there. Thanks.
Vail -- Atwater on Gore Creek
I love Dish - but think there are also some great places in Vail and you wouldn't need to travel that far. To mention a couple - Larkspur (as previously mentioned) is just wonderful. A little more modern than lodgey, but one of those places where every bite is Ummm with me. And a wonderful wine list and service to match. My family also loves Campo De Fiori for Italian. It is rather crazy, bustling and loud, so if it's just the two of you might not be best, but great food and attentive wait staff.
Others have suggested this before, but we also enjoy Sweet Basil for lunch (instead of dinner).
Try Dish and Juniper in Edwards next time if you have a vehicle.
Thanksgiving Dinner in Beaver Creek/Vail/Edwards
Have reservations Tuesday night at 8pm.
Sorry Juniper isn't open until Friday after Thanksgiving. We are leaving that day so will miss it this time. Great place.
Thanksgiving Dinner in Beaver Creek/Vail/Edwards
Dish is not open Thanksgiving Day.
BTW, this is my first post, altho I have gleaned much info from this site in the past. We have been going to the Vail area for about 17 years now and trying Dish for the first time next week, mainly based on rave reviews here. Will report back!
