SoCal gal moving to Cherry Hill needs a little help from her C.H friends Well, H Mart (at least the one in Cherry Hill), have many live fish in tanks, that they will process for you. Hard to get much fresher than that. Also, I have spent quite a bit of time along the shore (the southern shore at least), and have found relatively few decent fish mongers. And finally, since the original poster was asking for recommendations in the Cherry Hill area, I naturally assumed my comments would be taken in that context. |

SoCal gal moving to Cherry Hill needs a little help from her C.H friends Fiesta Mexicana in Hammonton is a fantastic Mexican restaurant. http://www.fiestamexicana-nj.com/ Bringhursts is a great family owned butcher shop in Berlin, NJ http://www.bringhurstmeats.com/ I second the recommendation for H Mart. Their fish and vegetables are second to none. McMillans Bakery in Westmont, NJ has great baked goods, not sure about their bread, never tried it. The Collingswood farmers market is pretty good, but if you are looking for more unusual stuff the Headhouse Square market in Philadelphia is a better choice. There are several CSAs in the area, well worth participating in. |

Places to purchase lobes of foie gras I would recommend Hudson Valley Foie Gras http://www.hudsonvalleyfoiegras.com/ Also D'Artagnan http://www.dartagnan.com/ Not sure if the CA law prohibits having foie gras shipped to you for personal consumption or not. I would check prior to ordering. |

I could certainly substitute pancetta, but I would much prefer to find guanciale. I am going to the farmers market this weekend in Phila to find PorcSalt, their website lists guanciale as one of their products. |

|
Anyone know anyplace in South Jersey that sell Guanciale? Have had no luck finding a local purveyor. |

Best Eggs Benedict in S Jersey burbs? My favorite eggs benedict are at the Pop Shop in Collingswood. They have a variety of them, but I usually stick with the traditional eggs benedict. http://www.thepopshopusa.com/ The Westmont Diner also has great eggs benedict. http://www.westmontdiner.com/ Be aware that both of these places get pretty crowded, especially during the breakfast rush, however they are both worth it. |

Henri Hotts is only about 10-15 minutes from my house, and we have eaten there several times. The food is good, although they favor a spicy barbeque sauce, and I prefer one that is slightly sweet. The meats were very tender and juicy though, with a good bark. |

Coming to Philadelphia/Mt. Laurel area for 2 weeks - dessert recs, please The best place in South Jersey right now for dinner is in Collingswood. Quite a few great restaurants there. Not in Collingswood but also near to Mt Laurel in Voorhees. |

Amada vs. Matyson for anniversary dinner? I heartily secomd the rec for Bistro La Minette. Easily one of my favorite restaurants in the area. |

Is CUSTARD CASTLE in Mays Landing the Best Custard in NJ?? Man, Custard Castle. Every fishing trip I took with my dad to the shore we would stop there on the way home. Now I take my daughters there (I live about 20 minutes away). I get the vanilla (always my favorite), but my girls prefer chocolate. ----- |

Is Sang Kee in Cherry Hill open? I work just a few blocks up Kings Hwy and I was very excited when they opened. I went and got take out and I have to say I was very disappointed. A more limited menu than the Philadelphia location, and what I had was not very good. I will be going back, probably this coming week to see if it was just the problems almost every new restaurant goes through. I hope things are better, would be nice to have some good noodles near-by. |

Good restaurants in Schenectady? I am actually staying just down the street from Proctor's at the Hampton Inn. Last year some friends and I ate at a restaurant that was pretty nice a block or two from the train station and we enjoyed it, but I can't remember the name :( |

Good restaurants in Schenectady? Wow, no ideas people? I have never been failed by Chowhound before :( |

Good restaurants in Schenectady? I will be travelling to Schenectady (via train) in October and while most of my stay will be busy I will have my first night free. I am looking for a good restaurant for dinner that night. I would really like a fine dining or bistro type restaurant, but I wil happily accept any recommendation. |

New Jersey Diners [split from LA] Olga's Diner was closed several months ago by the state for non-payment of taxes. Also from the original list, Nasa's diner burned down years ago and was not rebuilt. The Diamond Diner in Cherry Hill was removed years ago to make way for a Walgreens. Ponzio's is the best diner remaining in the Cherry Hill area. |

I get take out from there quite a bit. The staff is fantastic and so is the food. It is hard to beat their prices also. For a lunch box of bulgogi, you get the beef, rice, soup, various other items all for about $8.95. Never had anything from them that I didn't like. |

Looking for a Fishmonger in South Jersey I am more than willing to go into Philly, will have to check out Ippolitos. Thanks for the tip. |

Looking for a Fishmonger in South Jersey I go to the H Mart quite frequently for Asian cooking supplies, and I sometimes get shrimp or butterfish there. While I like H Mart, sometimes I find their fish are not as fresh as I would like them to be. |

Looking for a Fishmonger in South Jersey I am looking for a good place to buy fish in South Jersey. I have been getting them at Whole Foods in Marlton, but I am not overly impressed with their selection and would like to branch out a bit. I live in Gloucester County and I am in easy driving distance of Atlantic City, Philly, Ocean City and anywhere in Camden, or Burlington counties. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

Polish in South Jersey, Philly? While this will only help one weekend a year :), in Cherry Hill the Little Servant Sisters of the Immaculate Conception http://www.geocities.com/lsic2006/ hold a carnival in the beginning of September every year. There is a ton of Polish food, Polish music and traditional Polish dancers. I grew up just a few blocks away and have been going to the carnival for as long as I can remember. Even now when I live in another county I make it a point to bring my kids to the carnival each year. |

Real Mexican Food In New Jersey My family and I love Fiesta Mexicana and we often head over to Hammonton when we get a craving for some great, and amazingly affordable,Mexican food. |

http://www.bringhurstmeats.com/ In Berlin, NJ. This is a full service, family run butcher shop. We buy all of our meat there. The really great thing though is that they will do specialty cuts for you. I have gone in there many times and asked for items that they do not routinely have pre-cut (fresh pork belly, beef cheeks, etc) and they can usually go into the back room (which has a large window to the shop so you can see a lot of the butchering) and cut what you need then and there. Only once or twice have they asked me to call back on the first day of the next week so they could reserve what I needed. If you are in the area stop in and see why I have been going there since I moved down this way 10 years ago : )----- |

Clio vs. L'espalier: Boston's Best? I was in Boston for one night back in September and I was able to eat at Clio. I got the 14 course tasting menu and had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and the waitstaff were courteous and knowledgeable. Next time I am in town I want to try L'Espalier. |
