Local Food Truck event, Sunday, 3/25
Food truck events in Las Vegas really need a web page with a calendar so we can make plans to attend events in our neighborhoods. As long as each truck pretends it exists in its own universe and relies solely on Twitter to inform their own and ONLY their own followers, events will continue to see few customers.
Rec's in Vegas
>We love fresh clean food (organic farm to table style),
You do realize Las Vegas is in the middle of a desert? It's 300 miles to the nearest ocean and at least that far to the farms of California. Food that's 36 hours old is considered fresh here. It just can't get here any quicker.
Farm to the warehouse to the trucks to the distribution center to the restaurant is more like it.
Red Booth Italian Reccomendation?
There no such thing as a mom and pop Italian restaurant anywhere in the valley. Don't bother wasting your time or your money.
The closest is Olive Garden and do you really want to waste your vacation there?

weekday lunch--Weiss' Deli, Noodle Pot or LOS??
Weiss is nothing like Brent's. It's more like Abe's when all the regular cooks are off and 3/4 of the waitresses call in sick.
And the sad fact, it's the best deli in town.
Definitely go for the $20.11 lunch at Milo's in the Cosmopolitan.
Looking for a good Jewish bakery
A good Jewish bakery in Las Vegas?
The short answer... no.
The long answer... HELL no.
Craft Cocktails or Mixology Cocktails
In general, never wager in the hopes of getting some sort of comps be they free drinks, meals, etc. In the long run, it's cheaper to just buy your drinks.
On the other hand, if you were planning to wager anyway, take the free drink!
Regarding hands at video poker, it's like a slot machine. If you're playing seriously, you can play 6-8 hands per minute. On the other hand, you can stall between hands and not play quickly. OTOH, if you not playing quickly enough, you're drinks may not be comped. Not certain about their policies.
French Fries in Vegas
Another nod to ANY of the four varieties of fries at Bachi Burger. Top notch.
On the other end of the price scale, the fries at In N Out are good, but their half life is about one minute so eat them fast and first.

Best Chinese Restaurant on the Strip?
Depending on where you stay on the Strip, a cab ride to Chinatown might be a cheaper alternative than the inflated prices at resort restaurants.
Emu burgers
I have friends coming to town for the SEMA convention and SWMBO has requested eating at a restaurant that serves emu burgers. That request has me stumped.
Anybody know who might serve them?
Cheap eats for foodies?
PF Chang's is Chinese food, dreamed up by somebody from East Podunk, who has never tasted real Chinese food.
It's the Asian equivalent to the Olive Garden.

If you haven't been here for a few months, well, let's just say things change.

Buffet for those with simple tastes
The Feast Buffet at most Station casinos. Not on the Strip, but it fit your criteria and it's really inexpensive too.
Downtown Las Vegas
You are getting terrible advice regarding downtown. There's nothing interesting, unique or tasty to be found there, unless you consider bland Hawaiian food somehow unique.
There's lot's of cheap food to be had and many old time, once grand, steakhouses. The cheap is okay, especially for breakfast, (Dupars at the Golden Gate). It's best to avoid the steakhouses no matter what anybody says about a good meal they ate there 12 years ago.
Luv-It does make really good frozen custard, but then so do many places around the country. It's not someplace to go out of your way, but if you're driving back to the Strip on Las Vegas Blvd. and it's before 10:00PM, AND you have a sweet tooth jones, sure... swing by.
The Flame at the El Cortez is okay and the prices reasonable, but it's certainly not memorable nor chowworthy.
The only thing that may qualify as interesting AND actually IN downtown proper is Streats.
www.facebook.com/VegasStrEATS. That's when ALL the food trucks in Las Vegas converge upon the El Cortez. Now that's tasty eats.

Dinner with a view - Sunday night
The view from the top of the Stratosphere ain't all that great anymore. A resort called the Fountainbleau was built on the east side of the Strip just south of the Sahara. The Fountainbleau went bankrupt and much of the planned resort was never finished. But the tower was completed.
And it's HUGE. Taller than any hotel on the north Strip. Its mass and height obstruct the view of most of the center strip from the observation floors of the Stratosphere's tower.
Looking for BBQ in Summerlin/NW Area
Famous Dave's is the best of the sorry excuse that passes for BBQ here.
Frankly, for sushi, BBQ and dim sum, I wait for trips back to Los Angeles. The options for all three in Vegas are miserable.

Best gin martini in Las Vegas
Oscar Goodman's house.
Maybe even his new restaurant at the Plaza?
Las Vegas Bachelor Party
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but $20-30 on the Strip at any steakhouse or sushi restaurant is impossible.
That budget is fine for an AYCE sushi place in a strip mall way off the Strip, but it won't be anything I would categorize as "fun, loud, entertaining".
Perhaps you need to adjust your budget or reconsider your expectations.
Vegas Virgin Turns Thirty and Needs Restaurant Recs
A, There's no such thing as walking distance, and certainly not in the middle of triple digit heat.
B. There are no local places on the strip, nor are the recommended local places grouped together in a neighborhood or within walking distance of anything.
Where are you staying?
Family dinner in Las Vegas - help!
"Seems like much more attention went to the decor than to main courses."
One thing I tend to look for is the ownership of a restaurant in order to get a sense of how authentic the food might be. Mon Ami Gabi is owned by Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, http://www.leye.com/.
A quick glance at the huge list of other restaurants they operate in a dozens of different cuisines suggests TO ME that they excel not at making great food, but a making great profits.
I've visited Las Vegas since 1963 and lived here since 2005. The one thing that is patently obvious is there isn't an original thought in this town, Paris, Luxor, Ventian... you see a trend here yet?
Virtually every restaurant here is part of a chain. The obvious ones are easy to spot. Olive Garden, Applebee's, Outback. Even MAG has a link to Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises at the bottom of its home page. The not so obvious one take a little digging or knowledge to discover. The Grand Lux Cafe inside the Venetian is run by the Cheesecake Factory. Until recently, all the coffee shops at most Station Casinos were operated by Cocos.
All the celebrity restaurants here are merely part of a chain, the children of their original restaurateurs, Bouchon, Mesa Grill, Jaleo, Robuchon. Scott Conant won't be cooking at Scarpetta, Hubert Keller won't be in the kitchen of Fleur, Wolfgang Puck won't be at Spago.
Just my two cents.
An Italian dinner for one.

A. Eating at a French restaurant and complaining the food is... well... French, seems a bit odd to me. What where you expecting?
B. I told you not to leave Treasure Island!
Best Non-Gourmet Burger On or Around the Strip (Ignoring In-N-Out)
Bachi Burger. Open until 2:00AM.
If you have a car it is worth the drive.
Take the I-15 south to Blue Diamond Hwy, SR 160. Turn left, you're on Windmill. Look for the shopping center with the correct address on your left.

Best Non-Gourmet Burger On or Around the Strip (Ignoring In-N-Out)
Yes and no. In-N-Out is that good. It's a killer burger. However, it's just another fast food burger. It's McDonald's without all the advertising and franchising and kitschy characters, thaken back down to the simplest.
Is it worth getting a taxi, renting a car, going out of your way?
No. Spend a little more money and try something unique to Las Vegas like the Wicked Spoon.
Best sushi bar on the strip?
We are 300 miles away from an ocean. There's no fresh fish to be had at a sushi bar in Las Vegas.
If you're from small poduck town, no access to sushi and you are jonesing for a fix, that's the only reasonable excuse to eat sushi in Las Vegas.
I WILL NOT recommend any sushi restaurant in Vegas, (nor will John Curtas) but if you search this board for sushi you will find many people who disagree with me.
Best Non-Gourmet Burger On or Around the Strip (Ignoring In-N-Out)
Dave,
Kilroy's was my favorite burger joint. BEST in town. The operative word being "was". The Buffalo location closed completely and the other location closed its kitchen.
A true tragedy as there's nothing on the same scale that compares to their burgers.
