Suggestions for Wildwood, Wildwood Crest, or North Wildwood

VFresser- We checked out a small place on the bay called Off the Hook Seafood http://www.hookedupseafood.com/ It is basically a nice food truck with picnic benches to eat at. The food was awesome! Our favorites were corn on the cob, clam chowder, steamers, and the fish tacos. We will be back again this week to check out the local crabs and fresh caught seared tuna. BYO

Suggestions for Wildwood, Wildwood Crest, or North Wildwood

I am looking for some suggestions for places to eat for the week while we are staying in Wildwood. Nothing too fancy, as we will have a baby with us most of the time. I am open to any type of cuisine, but I especially wanted at least one night of snow crab legs. I have read many reviews on Yelp, Urban Spoon, etc., and the reviews for every place seem very mixed. I was hoping to get some personal favorites from the 'hounds on this board. Thank you!

PS Here are some places I was considering. I appreciate any comments...

Sharky's Feeding Frenzy
Bandana's Mexican Grill (WW Crest)
Goodfish Grill
Jersey Girl Bar/Rest
Smack Daddy's

Anyone been to the new TEXAS ROADHOUSE OLDBRIDGE?

we visited a few weeks ago, and we may return. we registered our email online with them and they sent us a coupon for a free app. we chose the rattlesnake bites, which were too salty. the fresh bread and cinnamon butter were very good. i enjoyed the salad and homemade dressing that came with my meal, although it was large enough to be an entree. dh had the ribs, which he said were too fatty for his liking. i had the catfish, which was good. the portion was so large, i had three more meals from it at home. overall, TR has decent food, large portions, and reasonable prices. although it is by no means a food "destination", i can see the appeal of TR to the value-conscious consumer- think IHOP clientel. the service was attentive, but we felt like we were being upsold on everything. in addition to super-size portions, the server tried to push drinks, apps, sides, and extra toppings for our sides on us. if you go to TR, call ahead to avoid the long wait and don't go at all if you are on a diet!

Best "outdoor Restaurant"?

my vote is for blue point grill. on the weekends, they have a live jazz band playing outside, not to mention the food is to die for.

Easter Picnic in Central Park

I would like recommendations on places near CP that sell picnic type food (sandwiches, salads, etc) that would be open today, on Easter Sunday. All ethnicities welcome. Thanks!

Ichium vs Makkoli

tuxedo- you can order hot japanese menu items, rolls, and sashimi. i tend to enjoy the rolls at kitchen items the best. if you are looking for great sashimi, i would stay away from all you can eat/order places all together.
"over-orderers" order more rolls than they can eat and expect you to help them finish their food!

Ichium vs Makkoli

cling0017, i'm glad to hear that inman ave location is doing well. we went a few times when it first opened, and it wasn't crowded like the princeton location always is. i would agree that sushi palace is a better option than makkoli or ichiumi, as long as you don't have "over-orderers" in your group. i especially like their shrimp tempura.

wegman's custom cake??

i recently purchased a chocolate frosted chocolate cake, and was disappointed. although the flavor and texture were ok, something about the cake seemed a little off (undercooked?). i also purchased canollis a few weeks back, which turned out to be soggy. we will not be trying anything else from the wegman's bakery (Marlboro location).

shanghai bun, matawan nj // gross ANY decent dumpling places in Central Jersey?

we also like SHB. our favorite dishes have been the noodle soup with chicken and mustard greens, and the general tsao's chicken, which has a nice vinaigre kick to it. what are soup dumplings? as far as i knew, SHB served soup and dumplings, but i don't remember seeing the two together on a menu.

New Thai Restaurant Old Bridge NJ

pktaske- i ordered my dish "thai spicy" (i don't remember there being a 3 tier scale available) and my dish was served without any heat at all. maybe they have changed their approach to customer requests.

i am making the haul up to lorena's in maplewood, which is considered one of the best byos in the state.

Honeyed Cashews with Kosher Salt

the raw cashews were hard to find and pretty expensive. next time, i would just use raw peanuts. great recipe, does not need as much salt as recipe calls for imo. i too used a silpat, based on recommendations here. what a lifesaver!

Shrimp Cocktail Takeout Near Old Bridge for NYE

can anyone recommend a place to buy good shrimp cocktail for tomorrow night? the supermarket rings are always soggy and disappointing, and wegman's is out of my budget, although delish. in the past, i have picked up shrimp cocktail from Morgan Fishery, but i have not been there since the change of ownership. does anyone know if they still make a great shrimp cocktail?

New Thai Restaurant Old Bridge NJ

Update: Thai Shangri-la is now open. We tried it last week, and it doesn't seem like it will be stealing any business from Thai Thai. While the interior (and the prices) are more upscale, the food was similar in taste and quality that that of Thai Thai on 516. Although attractively presented, the small portions seemed like a poor value. There was one standout dish, which I believe was called Thai Shagri-la fried rice. It consisted of three different types of meat satay displayed over fried rice. The other dishes we tried were standard Thai fare, nothing remarkable. Service was warm but spotty. It appeared that there was a lack of communication between the kitchen and front of house, as evidenced by the last entree being served not only late but cold. I really hope this restaurant improves to being a truly upscale alternative to Thai Thai. Something like Origins Thai in Somerville would be an excellent addition to Old Bridge.

Dressed Up in Central Jersey

I would like recommendations for restaurants in Central Jersey where I can go dressed up (satin dress for me, suit for dh). Any cuisine is fine, but the food and the atmosphere must be un-fussy. Thanks!

New to the Matawan area

Yes, Ponte Vecchio is under the same ownership as Lou Cas in Edison and Fresco in Milltown. Wasabi House is under the same ownership as the ever-crowded Wasabi House in East Brunswick.

New to the Matawan area

Welcome to the area. Here are some of our local favorites:
Thai Thai- Thai
Ponte Vecchio- Italian seafood (not our favorite, but loved by others)
Bacci- brick oven pizza
Wasabi- sushi
All of the above are BYO
For good Mexican, you will have to travel a bit- perhaps to Freehold or Jamesburg
