Real, Traditional Club Sandwich in LA?

Le Petit Four on Sunset makes a great club sandwich (they roast their own turkey). You will, however, need to request the 3rd piece of toast. Darn tasty fries too.

"Special" date lunch, east of La Cienega, west of downtown

Had a lovely lunch yesterday at Il Covo (the Old Orso space on 3rd) A little farther west than you wanted but worth a look. Had the raw artichoke salad, osso bucco stuffed pasta and branzino - all quite delicious and the covered patio is beautiful.

Thanksgiving Dinner to go in SF

Perry's restaurants do a great T-day dinner and will pack it to go.

Musso and Frank dishes.

Yes on the New York. Definitely get a side of creamed spinach. Oddly they also have excellent tomato soup. If you want a slight twist on the wedge, go for the anchovy dressing - it's not ceaser, it's vinaigrette with anchovies. Delicious.

Teen Friendly Restaurant near Hollywood & Highland?

Loteria Grill is just a short walk east down Hollywood Blvd. BoHo has reopened at the Hollywood and Highland complex - both would be great for teenagers.

Fabulous people watching to boot! Sat & Sun brunch and I believe they've started weekday bfast have a great trip...

West Hollywood Gift Certificate Recommendations?

The Original Farmer's Market is a collection of food stalls and stands that's a beloved LA institution. Check it out online - gift certificates are available at the online store.

Valentine's Dinner Restaurant Needed - < $100

Check out Cleo the new restaurant on Vine above Hollywood Blvd. - their. regular menu has a lot of small plates very reasonably priced, delicious middle eastern influenced food, cool old Hollywood vibe. As with any restaurant you should check to make sure they're not putting a restrictive (expensive) v-day menu in place

help! LA convention center - drinks, small food for 25-30

Zucca is doing a less expensive version of their menu on the patio and they also have a happy hour - pizzas etc. 8th and Fig. I'm also a fan of the Hotel Figueroa - the owners are extremely nice and accomodating.

early 1970's - San Rafael CA - italian-sounding name of supermarket?

Many thanks - Mom and I just enjoyed some happy reminiscing. She Worked in Oakland in the 70s and we lived in Marin so she stopped there almost every night (a fresh food "foodie" ahead of her time). When we'd go together we'd buy a loaf of sourdough and eat most of it before we got home. Also one of my first crushes was the super cute blonde blue eyed butcher in that fab meat department. Crab and artichokes for dinner - you betcha, thanks Petrinis - you helped make me the lover of good, fresh food I am today

Looking for casual baby-friendly at Fisherman's Wharf

The Buena Vista Cafe is known for Irish coffee but they have very tasty breakfast/lunch in a classic SF atmosphere. You can also walk to the beloved California burger institution In n Out. Head up Columbus towards North Beach and there's Burgermeister. Boudin in Ghirardelli has good sandwiches and chowder. Fisherman's Wharf itself is touristy but very close to North Beach and Chinatown with lots of local gems and your hotel is actually a great location and very pleasant. Have fun.

Lunch ideas within walking distance of Paramount Studios on Melrose Ave.

All weather reports are for sunny Friday and Saturday - definitely go to the Farmer's market - the Korean BBQ there has terrific short ribs if you want something that's different but unintimidating. Have a great holiday.

Is lucy's el adobe the greatest food - no. But it's an LA institution whose walls are covered with where are they now? headshots. Stick to crispy tacos, chicken enchiladas and note how wierdly good the salad dressing is on their little iceberg side salad. A personal guilty pleasure!

Nice Christmas dinner near Beverly Hills

A friend and I recenty had a wonderful dinner at Blvd at the Regent Beverly Wilshire. We just shared a selection of appetizers and the staff couldn't have been more gracious. I'm taking my elegant mother there when she comes for Christmas. Another plus is the big windows that allow you to look out Wilshire to all of the Christmas decorations and with the bar at one end and a semi-lounge feel it's fun fancy but not ostentatious.

Best breakfast spot in Nob Hill??

Down the hill off Union Square are Cafe de la Presse and Scala Bistro, If you take the California Street Cable Car down the Ferry Bldg MarketBar has started doing weekday breakfast and there is also Boulette's Larder inside. Coffee and baked goods at the Little Cafe at California and Powell (name escapes me) - Mom lives a block away and swears by the banana bread. I enjoy the casual bar food at the Big Four at the Huntington - never tried breakfast but you might look at the menu. Enjoy.

Eggplant Parm.... best where at?

Prizzi's on Franklin (Beachwood Canyon neighborhood) makes very good eggplant parm served in its own individual casserole dish. Bring an appetite!

Where to get my crab fix this Thanksgiving weekend?

if you're looking for old school, straightforward dungeness you might check out the Buena Vista (yes, home of Irish coffee) which has an extensive crab menu and is open all day, every day. If I remember correctly half was around $15 but you can give them a call - the crab menu isn't on their website.

SF Near Union Square

Little Joe's has actually moved to 5th & mission - I think this is it's 3rd or 4th location since the original North Beach spot - haven't eaten there in years but still have fond memories of the veal saltimbocca. Another good choice for old school Italian is Contadina in North Beach Union/Mason about a 10 minute bus ride. Breakfast check out Cafe de la Presse on Bush/Grant and Sears is still pretty good and the lines aren't as bad as they once were.

Cozy wine bar or other spot for drinks in the rain?

Go old school at the Huntington Hotel on Nob Hill - fireplace, piano and a pretty good bar menu (great chicken pot pie) that they serve late, super comfy chairs - good sweetie or solo!

Looking for three suggestions - dinner w/parents, romantic Berkeley bar, and Union Square weekday breakfast

Scala restaurant at the Sir Francis Drake has a very good breakfast and is very comfy with big booths. Also a big fan of Cafe de la Presse. Both take reservations.
