The definitive gluten free "BEST OF" list! Please add your favorite retail GF stuff.

Are there any good GF pizza dough mixes (already made)? I just made Bob's Red and it was an abomination. I'd love it if there was something quick and easy (that actually TASTES like pizza dough).

Yeah. I love Nut Thins! My sub for a sandwich at lunch is some sort of chicken/egg salad with Nut Thins.

So far, the best things I've tried have been:

Pamela's GF Pancake Mix
Udi's White Bread (needs to be toasted)
Arepas (south American corn/cheese cakes)
Estrella Daura (beer)
Gluten Free Girl and the Chef's Pizza Dough recipe (really their flatbread cracker recipe)

I've been told that King Author's GF Brownie Mix is good but have yet to try it.

PLEASE. Use this thread to list any GF retail products that you think are superior. I'm tired of being burned.

Casual Dining in Niagara Falls

The Wife and I went to Yank's (right near our Day's Inn) http://www.yanksniagara.com/ and got a pizza that was fantastic (just like homemade). Seemed like a good local place with lots of beer options and a nice casual atmosphere.

Need Help for dining this weekend in St. Louis!

Been to SL a few times and always seek out the goods. I've been to Pappy's BBQ a couple of times and it was always great (get the ribs and sweet potato fries). I'd been told that if I liked Pappy's that I'd love the Shaved Duck. We went there our last trip. They have a nice upscale BBQ menu (among other gourmet type options (duck confit et al). I got the (St. Louis style) ribs on the servers recommendation. They looked beautiful with a nice dark crust and outer smoke ring and were very tender. HOWEVER, they were practically flavorless. The rub must have only been paprika and I'm not sure what type of wood they used (I'm guessing Oak) but it was nearly non-existent. They had some nice sauces (one really nice one with the flavor of caramelized onions) but that didn't help enough. Next time I'm going back to Pappy's.

We want BBQ but are open to options. We are from Columbus and wanted City BBQ to do it but they can't cater so far away. What's good?

Best CHEAP hidden gems in Columbus, OH?

Thanks everyone! There are some great suggestions here and I look forward to checking them out. What I'm realizing is that I know of all the centralized food spots but not any of the ones away from the German Village to Worthington line that I tend to gravitate to. I look forward to checking out the places that are are outside of my normal line.

BTW: I do love the Taco Trucks in town. My favs are Los Potosinos and Super Torta.

Best CHEAP hidden gems in Columbus, OH?

I've lived here for 15 years and know all the main picks (Starliner Diner, Barley's, North Market, Villa Nova, Banana Bean Cafe, ...). What are some great AFFORDABLE hidden gems here? Extra points to centrally located picks (I live in Clintonville) but please don't hold out on me if it's near the outer belt...

Best Pizza Joints in Columbus

I'll have to try Tommy's again. I worked by the one in Upper Arlington and ate there a few times and was not blown away...not bad but not great as I remember.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Villa Nova (in Beechwold). This is the best "Ohio style" thin crust pizza. Get it with pep...you will not be disapointed.

I like Smokin' Joes crust with Houndog's second level sauce. (my second favorite)

Addriatico's wins for thick crust

"healthy" cooking for a fan of "unhealthy" food?

I LOVE food! Specifically salty, fried, meaty food with an emphasis on comfort. However, I've reached the point where I need to think about making a change. I cook regularly, but most of what I make is meat-centric with a healthy does of butter or bacon fat for flavor. How can I EASE myself into a healthier lifestyle? Any good cookbooks that will help? Thanks.
