Dallas Dim Sum

I enjoy the busy carts.... I don't enjoy the looks when you are slowing down. Or for that matter the wait staff coming by multiple times to ask if you are done. It happens less when you are with big parties, but prevalent when you are in small parties.

Dallas Dim Sum

I prefer being able to get in and not have the crazy rush. Both Kirin Court and Maxims have the same general issue of the wait staff trying to move you on. That being said, they are all good, but Hong Kong Royale is just much easier to deal with. That being said they are all okay. None of them meet the better San Francisco Dim Sum, but then again for the price a great deal here!

White Queso in Plano area

Yep you are correct

Palayok is BACK!!

That's great news!

Dallas Dim Sum

I would put JS Chens behind Maxims and Kirin Court. This being said there are certain items that they are likely better than both the others as well.

I would also mention Honk Kong Royale in Carrolton. Again not quite a good, but easy to get in to on a weekend. I also prefer their chicken feet over anybody else.

Dog Friendly Patios in Dallas??

Sorry some of the best restaurants in Europe are dog friendly. There is no sanitary reason for not letting dogs in, other than keeping cat people out.

Sissy's on Henderson - Needs lots of work

Between talking to friends and reading reviews it might be a while until we try it. I have yet to read or talk to anybody that thinks it's far better than Babes. For the price point I expect something much better than Babes.

Polenta in DFW

Just buy polenta or grits and make your own. You can add flavor while you make it. Then spread it out on a half sheet. It will firm up over night in the fridge, then cut it the way you want it.

In N Out Burger in Duncanville?

I would the closest would be on 76 and caruth. All though personally I would rather go to one of the many DFW burger joints that are much better. Including but not limited to Maple and Motor, Angry Dog, Kennys, Kellers, Twisted Root, Ye Old Butcher shop etc... I would have to put the best ino burger at about 75th on the list at best.

Recommendations for 1st Visit to Dallas/Ft. Worth in July

If you are going to be town over the weekend, the Grape has a great Burger but just on Sunday.

http://thegraperestaurant.com/ It's also a lovely romantic restaurant.

Quiet relaxed atmosphere for a group of 28

Nope it's a bit more upscale with locally sourced ingredients. There food a whee bit spicy overall, but quite interesting. I had the smoked fried chicken on the last visit. The fingerling potato salad was the big winner. The chicken was quite good, but my brain had a hard time processing smoked oh wait fried....

best fresh tomatoes

I would generally say spicers. I did however by some awesome heirlooms at whole foods plano yesterday. I was actually amazed at the flavor sweet and nice... Hmm maybe I should go and see if they have any more.

Quiet relaxed atmosphere for a group of 28

All though it does have a bit of a chainish feel http://www.theranchlc.com/ is easy going quiet and I believe they have a private room. The food is pretty classic southern with a twist.

Best Restaurant Not in a Major Texas City - Texas

While I do enjoy Clark's, I am still mad that they stopped smoking trout. It was a driver for me to make the trek to Clark's.

CRAWFISH TIME! But where to get it?

Yep my experience thus far in the season has been small bugs. Good report on the Oysters. I will check out Pappadeaux next week.

Chinese Steamed Pork Buns (Char Siu Bao?) in Dallas - Take Out?

Another option is Banh MI Ba Lee on Josey & Beltline NE. I have purchased a couple of theirs to try. Not something you would expect from a Vietnamese bakery, but worth a shot.

CRAWFISH TIME! But where to get it?

They steam the bugs and once out of the steam they add a large amount of butter. It is tasty but not low calorie.

Chinese Steamed Pork Buns (Char Siu Bao?) in Dallas - Take Out?

You can also pan fry them. They used to make the smaller buns for this, but now only do the larger. Pay frying them crisp them on the bottom, really something different than an average steamed bun.

CRAWFISH TIME! But where to get it?

Lots of places have them now. Pappadeaux is one of the best tasting, however it's because they drown them in butter :-)

Chinese Steamed Pork Buns (Char Siu Bao?) in Dallas - Take Out?

I would head out to the food court on Legacy & 75 on the West side of the Asia world shopping center.

48" gas (dual-fuel) range: Wolf vs FiveStar vs Thermador vs Viking vs Dacor

I am also looking to do a kitchen remodel. In my case I went with a Fisher and Pakel 36 cooktop and a Thermador dual built in. The F&P is garbage and I would have to say that the DCS will likely not fare much better. The Viking is way under powered without high heat burners. I am keeping the dual built in and moving it. I am likely going back in with a 60 inch Capital or a 60 Blue Star. Both have there advantages, both are open burner high heat. I find that I do 90% of my cooking on my F&P on the 22,000 BTU wok burner. I simply want a range with all 22,000 or higher. That being said I would just put in a Garland and be done with it, if not for the home owners insurance issue.

Dallas to Austin Road Food

The only issue with Louie Mueller is what time you get there. I have tried it twice at around 10:30 and their smoked meats were not great. I stopped last time at 1:30 and everything was awesome.

Caul Fat in Dallas ??

I would give http://matadormeat.com/about/ a call.

Maple & Motor?

I would have to say yes but. M&M reminds me of an old fashioned burger. They are high quality with high quality classic sides. If you are looking for the modern upscale burger then Twisted Root would likely be closer to what you are looking for.

Which Dallas Seafood Market, Rex's or T.J.'s?

Very interesting. I wonder if you could do a high heat deep fry and soften the bones enough to eat.

Best affordable lobster in Dallas/Plano/Frisco?

Yep same here generally. It's why I generally stay away from Addison.

You might also check to see if Steve Fields still has their Sunday night Lobster special.

Best affordable lobster in Dallas/Plano/Frisco?

The only issue I have on Lefty's is the fact that they are a smoking restaurant. I have been in there were the smoke was close to unbearable. Other days it's fine with only a handful of smokers.

The other choice is to hit Rex's for their Lobster roll on Friday. $28 gets you nearly a pound of lobster. It's a great value and great roll.

Good Indian Food?

I always enjoy seeing the odd mix of folks at Madras at lunch. I like the food, but you better like it spicy.

sushi making at home

Another good selection would be north of Dallas at Super H on Old Denton & 190.

Risotto keeps coming out brown ?

I normally use whole foods low sodium stock. It's price point compares favorably with everybody's stock. It is much lighter in color and will not brown out. Good luck!
