Three Stones-Brattleboro

Do make a reservation! They usually only have one or two specials a night and each night it is different. What you see online is what they offer. The place is very small, though now that the weather is nice they have outdoor seating, so it may be easier to get a table.

Keene, NH vs. Brattleboro, VT: How would food scene factor in to moving decision?

I think that you would probably be happier in Brattleboro or somewhere on the between the two places. As for restaurants there might not be as many as Keene has,but Bratt also does not have all th chains like Keene has. Most of the restaurants on Brattleboro tend to be more ethnic- tehr is Shin -La, Thai Bamboo, Anon's, Sarki's Market, Panda North, Three Stones- the newest and very good- also vegetarian and vegan friendly. I have to say that there are many vegetarians here and the restaurants are used to having to accommodate that. Some other places are Alici's Bistro, Addagio's,India Palace. There is also -Chelsea Royal Diner, New England house, The Marina and a few others. For more fine dining there is Peter Havens and T.J. Buckley's. Brattleboro is good in that you are closer to other areas to drive to for other dining experiences

My son just got back from there and said it was REALLY good. This time they had reservations. He said all the food tastes very fresh and they will be going back. Can't wait till I go. After the new year the hours will be expanded and they now have the credit card machine up and running..

Mexican/Mayan in brattleboro

I am planning on going tomorrow, and so far my son has told me that everyone he knows that has tried it, has liked it. He was going to eat there last night, but the wait was over 30 minutes so they left. I will tell you that the place is not very big so that may be a factor, Also they are only taking cash right now as the credit card machine is not yet working.

Roadtrip up towards Quechee, VT for leaf peeping

Yes, it is right off of Exit 4- Putney. Not sure when they close for the winter. As for Vegetarian Paradise they are not open on weekends. The Brattleboro Farmers Market is only open on Sats on Rt. 9/Western Ave, but they also are open next to the Brattleboro Food Co-op on Wednesdays, but it is not as many vendors on Weds

Best free/cheap cheese tastings in Vermont??!!!

It is not a farm, but on Rte 30 in Brattleboro there is a Grafton Cheese outlet/cheese factory. Lots of free cheses to taste, plus I think during the week you can see them making it. It is free.

B & B with good Food in VT, NH?

We like to go to the Waybury Inn in Middlebury,They have 2 different dining rooms, we have good dinners in both of them. One is actually a bar/pub and the other is more formal. Breakfasts are wonderful and are included when you stay there. They have homemade cookies out in the afternoon and candies in your bedroom. The Waybury Inn is the Inn they used for the Newhart Show.

Where can I pick wild blueberries (not on a farm, really wild!) near New Hampshire/Vermont border?

Try Black Mountain in Brattleboro. I know there is a spot near the top that has them, but I have not checked on them this year. You can also try Mt Wantastequit in Hinsdale,NH.

Brattleboro: Best Business Lunch?

Alici's Bistro just reopened last night and they are going to start being open for lunch. So that may be what you are looking for.

Brattleboro: Best Business Lunch?

I live in Brattleboro and I can not think of any place that is what you described for lunch. While I have never eaten at Adagio's they do have a bar so that may be one of the few choices.

Vermont Breakfast

The Common Ground is long gone and I think the same is true of the Skyline Restaurant.

Brattleboro VT experts please help

Another good place to go is Newfane Cafe and Creamery on RT 30. Good homemade/hand cut French Fries. I had yummy homemade potato leek soup today and I highly recommend the gelato which they also make on premises. I live and work in Bratt so one place I like to grab a quick sandwich is from R&B Deli in the Harmony parking lot. Panda North is the place to go for Chinese/Japanese food in Bratt. It is located on RT 5 heading north to Putney. As for the Co-op- yes you can eat there, there is also a Co-op in Putney where you can also eat. I love the Putney Co-op's clam chowder. If you go the Brattleboro Food Co-op and they have mushroom soup grab a bowl!

Brattleboro, VT

I happen to know that The Newfane Inn is open, my next door neighbor works there. I also have heard that they make really good escargot, which one of these days I will have to try since I love escargot. Most likely they do not advertise since they go by thier reputation, they must just rely on word of mouth.

Vegetarian Paradise (Brattleboro, VT)

My husband tried it last night and enjoyed what he got. He also got the Curry Tofu and some soup. It was bean soup, the only wierd thing was they had put chunks of corn on the cob in the soup- the corn was still in the cob! It had nice flavor and I would order it if they had it again. My husband said he would go back and try other options as well. He got takeout- the medium size and because it was a lot of food it lasted for two meals.

2 Brattleboro Restaurants Closed

I actually made a mistake about 39 Main, it is not closed yet, but did hear that most likely it will be closing. I think The Marina must cost too much to heat in the winter or maybe it just does not do the amount the business it does in the nicer weather. I have been to Alici's 3 times. I loved their escargot, but the last time we went they changed the way they prepared it and it was as good. I am not a fan of crab cakes but I hear that their's are good.

2 Brattleboro Restaurants Closed

Both Capers and 39 Main have closed. The Marina will not be open this winter. I think some of this has to do with the economy.

Maine Early July: Any Blueberries Yet?

I am in VT and it is strawberry season which just barely started. Blueberries typically are not ready till Aug, maybe end of July.Since where you are going is farther north, most likely they will not be ready.

Brattleboro vt- breakfast, brunch, or lunch- Sun

Chelsea Royal is most likely your best option. They also have homemade ice cream and they try to use local foods.

Meeting family in Brattleboro, VT this Sunday!

The food at the Marina isn't very good. You can always go the Brattleboro Food Co-op and they will make you a sandwich to order or they have a salad bar as well as hot and cold selections, plus they have vegetarian options. They use high qualty foods, local things as well as organic.

Fireworks - Brattleboro, VT - Review

I tried the clam chowder yesterday for takeout since I was working. While the staff was nice, they do not have it together yet. I had to wait a bit before even getting my order in. I asked for a cup and when I saw my order written up it was for a bowl- I even mentioned again that I just wanted a cup The waitress told me they only had one size. So I waited about 10 more minutes and saw my soup sitting on the counter, and told the waitress that I could see it, She got it for me, rang it up and tried to charge me for the larger size, I told her that I just ordered a cup and pointed out on the menu that a cup size is available. So in the end I got the bowl size at the cup size price. As for the soup itself, it is written up as traditional clam chowder with bacon, mine had no bacon and it was on the thin side.It was very herby, lots of parsley and potatoes. So it was just alright, I certainly would not classify it as traditional clam chowder and I would not get it again. I will try the other soup. I dont know at dinner, but at lunch time you go up and give your order then they bring to your table- they give you a number that you are to display on your table.

Thirty 9 Main in Brattleboro, VT

Bobby Flay is from NYC.

Thirty 9 Main in Brattleboro, VT

I have not been there since it changed owners, though I have looked at the menu. It now has more vegetarian choices and some of my old favorites are gone. I do not know if they have a website. I can tell my new favorite restaurant in Brattleboro is now Alici's Bistro on Harris Place.

Apple Picking Recommendations?

Green Mountain Orchard in Putney, VT.They have several different varities, the people who run it are very nice,. They also have reindeer there, wagon rides, pumpkins, etc.

Best ice cream in VT

While I guess these places are not on your way, I do know that Mountain Creamery in Woodstock and Chelsea Royal in Brattleboro both make their own ice cream.

Brattleboro Suggestions?

A new place called Alici's Bistro just opened up right in town on Harris Place. I have not been there yet, but one of the cooks from 39 Main is now there and we always ewnjoyed his creations. Another wonderful place to go is TJ Buckleys on Elliot St- I have never heard a negative word about them. As for Capers, we went and I was very disappointed in the food. I ordered the Filet and it was undercooked- basically raw in the middle and I had asked for it to be cooked Medium. I sent it back and then it was cooked properly, but by the time I got it back my husband was almost done eating. It was also nothing like it was described on the menu. My husband's had ordered one of the vegetarian options which also was not like it was described on the menu. We will not go there again.

Favorite Farm Stands in New England?

Walker Farm in Dummerston VT on RT 5 is GREAT!!!!!!

Inns for c'hounds in Vt/NH

We like to stay at the Waybury Inn in Middlebury, VT.

Vacation recommendation - Central VT or Bar Harbor, ME?

Middlebury is way nicer than Woodstock! We like ot stay at The Waybury when we go to Middlebury. It is the Inn that they used for all the Inn shots for the Newhart show. There are some good restaurants in Middlebury. The Vt. Country Store that is near Raspberries Thyme is located in Rockingham- not Weston. Also near there is a wonderful Japanese restaurant in Chester called Old Town Farm Inn. It is run by acouple she is Japanese and the chef. You have to make reservations and they only do dinner, though if you stay at the Inn they also have breakfast.
