Diet Coke with Splenda
I once read that "New Coke" had been based on Diet Coke, so if that is true, it is not surprising that Diet Coke with Splenda might taste like New Coke since Splenda tastes more like sugar. I love Diet Coke with Splenda and am concerned that the Coca Cola Co. does not market it correctly. Really, they do not market the stuff at all. Coca Cola has gone to great lengths to market Coke Zero, but that product uses Aspartame. Coke Zero is supposed to be an Aspartame sweatenned soda based on the original coke formula. It is ok, but would be so much better if it had been made with Splenda. Then it really would taste like Classic Coke. As demonstrated by the comments to this post, some people are confused with thinking that Coke Zero uses Splenda. I wonder whether people who say they do not like Diet Coke with Splenda because of an after taste were really trying Coke Zero thinking it was made with Splenda. I have not found Splenda to have an after taste, although Aspartame products do. Pepsi correctly markets a Splenda flavored product called Pepsi One, which is what I buy when I cannot find Diet Coke with Splenda.
